few superhero movies have both the heart and the sauce that this one does, the only ones that really come close are the first kick-ass and the two spider-verse films. every rewatch has me giggling and laughing and crying and at the edge of my seat with anticipation just like when i first watched it as a seven year old kid. top tier stuff, i don’t see any superhero story ever being more relatable to me on the big screen than sam raimi’s work.

Mad Max: Fury Road

an unforgettable action adventure experience for the ages. movies simply don’t get better than this, and knowing about the production nightmare behind its decades long release has only increased my respect for george miller for seeing his vision through. in a world full of megalopolis(es), mad max fury road is a generational directorial vision executed and elevated to near perfection by its tremendous cast and crew. what a day, what a lovely day each time i rewatch this beauty.

Minnie's character is complex and the female narrative is wholeheartedly empowering, but also call out monroe for what he is: a fucking predator. The overall nuance of this film is sometimes completely diluted by the implication that "pReDaToRs HaVe fEeLiNgS tOo."

the art direction is great doe
