Digital Video Editing with Adobe Premiere Pro: The Real-World Guide to Set Up and Workflow

2020

★★★★

You are probably one Google search away from this great short horror comedy film with the longest title. All my thanks to towerofbears whose review https://boxd.it/5Cuk29 made me watchlist this.

For most of the runtime we are watching a computer screen film, where a frustrated male director and his new, perplexed female editor try to both create the final cut of the movie (a typical teenage romance/melodrama) AND cut out a pesky ghost from it. The problem is that the ghost keeps appearing in the most crucial shots.

It's an engaging metafilm about film editing and what makes a horror film AND a romance film successful. I could watch a feature length film of these characters' hilarious banter. It includes the director bitterly commenting on who actually likes Bong Joon-ho's films the most and the editor telling him he is no Tarkovsky himself.

Honestly, the ghost almost ruins not only their movie but this movie as well by employing all the usual Asian ghost cliches. But then the power of editing is the most powerful exorcism at any filmmaker's disposal.

If you watch this, don't forget to stay for the ending credits!
