Sumptuous, frightening and textural, but the ending is simply irredeemable to me. The last few minutes, where Ellen is raped and killed, are the only part of the film that at all justify the title Nosferatu (rather than Dracula), since that ending is used by Murnau in the original Nosferatu (itself an otherwise straightforward adaptation of Bram Stoker's novel).
