“This is an old house. There’s bound to be bumps in the night.”
Dug the pacing of this. For a 90 minute movie it never felt rushed. I also really liked Lizzy Caplan and Anthony Starr. They both play a deranged character well. It’s start off with them being off putting and escalates to “oh we’re chaining our son in the basement as a punishment” and “our monster daughter has been living in the walls for years” but you don’t question it because of their performances. The house itself is neat and the right amount of old for a movie like this. Woody Norman did a good job as Peter.
The first hour was a blast and had me ready to see what happened but I was a little disappointed with the final act and ending as a whole. Monster sister is a nice element but the design missed with me. It didn’t look great when they finally showed her face. I do like that they took some risks but ultimately it ended up being a fun way to spend 90 minutes instead of a movie I’ll have on rotation come Halloween season.
