A Fool's World

1964

★★ Watched

Disted Mondo mess, racist and salacious as Mondo films usually are but mostly flat and unexciting. I hope Karloff got a nice check for what seems to have been just two days on a recording booth.

Maniac

1963

★★★ Liked 1

Maniac is perceived as part of a whole wave of thrillers spawned by the runaway success of Psycho (1960). It is actually closer to a James Cain novel. It also belongs to the Hammer Films school of psycho-thrillers written by Jimmy Sangster and usually set in or Italy (like The Snorkel or Scream of Fear).
