This is a strange one - it feels very disted, almost like the media is going one place then throws you in another - but not in a good way. The plotline feels thrown together and tries to make it work with (ittedly beautiful) cinematography. I wish i could’ve gotten more from - i see the artistic prowess but it lacks the viscerality and true body/psychological horror of his other works.
I really cannot stress enough that you should watch this movie. It really isn't for the faint of heart but it's unbelievably powerful. This movie was based on a novel, and such, some ideas and scenes are only speculation. There's no concrete evidence that some of the stuff in this movie happened, but it does an incredible job to have you believe that it's fact. There's no doubt that Marilyn Monroe had a tough life.
