the whole time i watched BOOM! i thought how much it reminded me of John Waters, so to confirm after the fact that he considers it one of his favorite movies was very validating.
it was particularly enriching to have watched it in such close proximity to ROCK OF AGES, which seemed to aspire to the level of camp, that BOOM! effortlessly had overflowing from its cup, and yet never came even remotely close to attaining.
heading home from seeing MATERIALISTS, i was stuck in unreal traffic, and that trapped me w/ my thoughts of this movie, at which point i realised how much it reminded me of SWEET HOME ALABAMA (complimentary).
