Pill Addiction

Felt like it kinda said nothing overall, if I’m being completely honest. It takes on a heady theme, but doesn’t have enough bite in its imagery or single sequence to conjure up any unique commentary on the topic, and the accompanying message at the end, something that I find many viewers would already know, makes the whole thing come across as a little bit of a hacky PSA.

So, how do we fix this, because I don’t wanna leave this…

So Yeah, Call Me Back

Watched this time ago but forgot to log so I had to run it back.

Prolly Nick’s best effort yet outta the ones I’ve seen. Middles about at points but definitely is a step in the right direction in of tightness and cohesion. Employs its simple concept effectively, fir the most part, even if it resorts to pulling the same tricks one too many times.

Such a hard film. Both pays homage to and satisfyingly subverts all the tropes of a rape-revenge, resulting in this sumptuous, campy experience that’s very very easy to enjoy.

An almost Chekhovian aimlessness captured brilliantly. Honesty doesn’t always bind itself to a set point A to point B narrative, and Daniel displays this wonderfully by wholly indulging in the pastimes of his two leads. It’s the only way they feel they can achieve any sense of connection, and the results are heartbreaking. Similar to what I’d imagine a mid length Lav Diaz would look like.
