there's the highschoolers sam elliott's character feels protective of. they literally hang at the beach & compete to see who can sexually assault the most women…
well that escalated quickly. but hell, wouldn't we all.

not sure if this happens to other average people who lead relatively mellow, crime-less lives, but I always find myself empathising with characters like this whose frantic cover-up actions quickly spiral beyond calm control. the layer cake becomes too complex to keep track of & consequences begin to bite back.
for me, treading water & seeming normal has always come with a dark sacrifice of little evils.…
