In The Mood For: Anthology Films

With the recent release of Yorgos Lanthimos’ ‘Kinds of Kindness’, I thought I’d give an appreciation list of the anthology films I’ve watched so far.

The anthology format is one I love but must be expertly used. For example, for some dramas I can be emotionally cut off from the film because there’s not enough narrative for me, but other times I’m craving for more bizarre and terrifying stories that is perfect paced for a 45 minute segment. Mainly I see this used in horror stories, which is still great but I’d love to see it more within other genres/styles.

  • Pulp Fiction
  • Dreams
  • Dead of Night
  • Kwaidan
  • Kinds of Kindness
  • Monty Python's The Meaning of Life
  • The French Dispatch
  • The Ballad of Buster Scruggs
  • 2001: A Space Odyssey
  • Trick 'r Treat
  • I'm Not There
  • The House
  • Sin City
  • Fantasia
  • Ghost Stories
  • Wild Tales
