First time seeing this in probably a decade, and the first time for my kid. It still rocks. Funny how blown away I was by the hair when this first came out now it looks like stringy gross nonsense.

Transgressive and should probably lean more into the dark comedy of the characters being horrible instead of the “boys will be boys” vibe but still lots of laughs.

Michael Mann was born a fully-formed, hard-nosed mid-40s filmmaker with an intimate knowledge of heists and dirty cops, right? To have this movie as a debut is incredible. It’s shot insanely well, has a fantastic score, great dialogue, and it’s grimy as hell.
