First time seeing this in probably a decade, and the first time for my kid. It still rocks. Funny how blown away I was by the hair when this first came out now it looks like stringy gross nonsense.

This might be the most perfectly cast movie of all time. Every single performance is pitch-perfect. Mind you, this being a sports comedy from 1989, some of those characterizations are not exactly great (particularly the wildly sexist portrayal of the vindictive team owner and Dennis Haysbert’s voodoo-practicing a Cuban- although, aside from the otherness, the voodoo is never really the butt of the jokes, they take way more pointed shots at the Christian guy).
