i really wish this showed more of her life!! than jumping between 1939 and 1969 (reducing her early years as just Oz in turn). the effective jumping then means it doesn’t show her fall from grace, and missed moments in her life that could be easily introduced as scenes to extrapolate from

visuals amazing, movie kinda boring, subtitle typeface choice unforgivable

the other reviews say it so much better than i ever could but, yep this film has such a nuanced and considered take on what it deals with which, given the era in which it was made, is kinda astonishing? 

also holy moly that scene with the orange sunlight flowing into the therapist’s office window is a beaut

lesbian queen Birdie is the best character in the film, and i will die on this hill
