I was mad at myself for going to see Amiko instead of this so I went the following night. Was baffled for the first hour but then, when the film's ontology started to come into focus, I experience one of the most mind-blowingly transcendental experiences I've had in a long time. It was my first Jia Zhangke film and I found it to be every bit as monumental as I had been led to expect from all the rave reviews I've read over the years.

I would have liked this film more if it hadn't been so overhyped by the Metrograph's marketing machine. And if the Q&A hadn't been so insufferable.

This was the first Kiarostami film I ever saw. I took my father and half-brother. I figured this was something we could maybe all bond over, but they both hated it. That was the last time we all went to a movie together.

I went to see this because I'm in it and was curious to see how it came out. I played a Silicon Valley entrepreneur which is obviously a stretch but I kind of pulled it off. I like Courtney's work and it's full of inventive poetic moments.
