It’s a shame that a good majority of the population will never understand this film. BARBIE explores specific experiences pertaining to girlhood that were hard-hitting. Gloria’s monologue in particular encapsulated a variety of issues that many women wouldn’t even have realised they been impacted by- with myself included. My one downside to this film is how masculinity was represented in certain instances. Some harmless aspects of masculinity were portrayed alongside harmful traits that could create confusion and insecurity among the audience.
An excellent selection of music features and costume designs that were faithful homages to classic barbie outfits greatly portrayed every girl’s dream for this movie.
