One of the first short films I watching. Creepy and effective.

I like cats, so I liked this movie. But I love this movie because it allows the main characters to feel familiar and alien at the same time without slipping into the uncanny.

I teach with this movie nearly every semester, and every time I watch it, I am impressed with how well executed it is. It’s hyperkinetic without being exhausting because you can clearly see what is happening from moment to moment. Of course it is about fate and free will and all that, but for me, it is ultimately about the power of selfless love to make the world anew.

The whole time I was thinking this movie is weird but still good for some reason. And then, in the last 10 minutes, it proves itself to be a true original. Bravo, Tornatore.
