how true, that someone even us can be difficult without wanting it, that sometimes we’re stuck being how we are. that others love us and we love others through their difficulty, or we don’t! one of my favorite movies i’ve seen in a long time.

i'm wary right now of evaluating art by how well it speaks to my own political values, because sometimes didactic art is really boring and superficial. however i think it is really cool that this is ultimately a movie about prison abolition and feminism and collective struggle towards liberation and i think that's important and really rare — and it doesn't feel didactic! it feels sardonic but sincere in its beliefs. is it stupid that i care…
