Watched this thinking I wouldn't still enjoy it 15 years on (and could get rid of the dvd), but damn it I did.

Some of the worst acting I have ever seen.
I had to force myself to sit through this one, but it was utterly terrible. It felt amateur-ish, I've never seen Laura Dern act so badly and Rossellini was the worst thing I've ever seen on screen.
The fact that this got an oscar nom horrifies me.
Really open to people sending me reviews and think pieces on why this is so well respected, even now, as I couldn't believe what I was watching.
There is a scene in this film where a bunch of adults band together to kick the shit out of an elderly woman. And it’s meant to be hysterical.
I really disliked a lot of this film. The humour seemed cruel and nasty and whilst it is filmed beautifully and has lots of good moments during the much more somber second half of the film, they had already lost me.
I know many will say this is wonderful, but it just did not work at all for me.
