A loose ranking of my favourite murder mysteries with a closed circle of suspects. The setup is fairly simple: a detective (or the smartest of the bunch) tries to uncover the murderer among a cast of established suspects that all have solid reasons to commit the crime.

I love this subgenre so much, I don't think I can ever hate these type of films unless it's downright offensive or uninspired.

List doesn't include more open-ended investigations like Zodiac or Memories of Murder.
