Steve McQueen has always known exactly how long to make you look. In his latest film, WWII epic Blitz, editing is key, to map the journey of a young boy racing back to his mum across a London he’s never seen before.

The filmmaker guides London Editor Ella Kemp through his back catalogue in the video interview above, to trace his relationship with time, music, reflection and history throughout his work. Covering the Lovers Rock houseparty, the Widows car scene, and that black and white shot of flowers in Blitz.
