Not on the level of the original, but that's a lot to ask. Despite some solid performances from Ken Watanabe and Kōichi Satō, it stumbles in its attempts to grapple with the themes of the original. The Hokkaido scenery, however, is exquisitely captured by Norimichi Kasamatsu.

Extremely boring. I didn't enjoy the caricatured and borderline racist depiction of Japan and Japanese people at all. The cinematography is nice, though.
