Several characters are linked by more than just their bourgeois social conditions; they are also connected by adultery. There's an interesting subtext about the futility of the wealthy, but the point mentioned in the synopsis is difficult to discern. There are also comic scenes with physical humor that are amusing but distract from the narrative. While it may have been revolutionary for its effective use of photography and skillful direction of characters and scenes, I didn't find it to be the masterpiece it's made out to be because the story is banal. There is a heartbreaking scene of wild animals dying. Actually, there are Social critic movies better than this one, also for adultery.

Há um subtexto interessante sobre a futilidade dos ricos, porém o fato informado na sinopse custa a acontecer, e há cenas cômicas de gags físicas que são engraçadas mas destoam e tomam tempo da narrativa. Pode ter sido revolucionário à sua época pelo seu efetivo uso da fotografia, hábil direção de vários personagens e composições de cenas, mas não achei essa obra prima toda que dizem por aí por ser uma história atualmente banal. Há uma cena de morte de animais selvagens de cortar o coração. Critica a ricaços entediados? Há filmes melhores; sobre adulterio? Também!
