I appreciate the ambition here and the acting, particularly Robbie and Pitt, is great. BUT I found this movie profoundly stupid. It couldn’t make up its mind on which tone it wanted to play — surreal satirical comedy about the industry like The Stunt Man or a mournful look at days gone by, or just Boogie Nights about the mainstream industry.

I didn’t hate it, but I didn’t like it either. It was truly all over the place and eventually came down to “The movie industry is built by exploited idiots, but at least we get Tron out of it.”

Full disclosure, I was the assistant editor on this movie. I guess I had never watched it all the way through.

YIKES. Just yikes. The movie feels like what an alien would make if he had just been given a plot synopsis of American Pie, but didn't understand anything about how human sexuality works.

Evan Rachel Wood's character is WAY too understanding and nice. As such there's no climax to this movie.
