So I finally watched Mean Girls, and let me just say - I get the hype now. For the longest time, I avoided it thinking it was just a “chick flick” or one of those movies you had to grow up with to really enjoy. Now, I wish I’d seen it sooner!

This movie is everything a 2000s comedy should be. It’s funny, quotable, and has that over-the-top, chaotic vibe that defined that era. And the jokes? They actually hold up. I was really laughing out loud at some of the stuff they showed. The early 2000s comedies were SO bold & made jokes out of stuff that wouldn’t be allowed in modern day films, I kinda miss that.

Even though it’s an unserious comedy, it sneaks in some real truths about high school drama, cliques, and how ridiculous social hierarchies are for us at that age. It’s not deep by any means, but it hits that sweet spot of being funny while actually kinda pointing out some truths.

It's just a perfect time capsule of early 2000s culture & I was OVERWHELMED with a pleasant sense of nostalgia while watching it.
