I made this list because Letterboxd's showdown of this week is about Smartest film villains. And what they said is true, is not merely the most evil, but the smartest, most manipulative, twisty, classy villains ever let loose on a big screen. And for me in order to be truly smart the villain has to sur the hero, it has to play with his mind in order to achieve his/her evil goals, has to break it and in some way "win" at the end. If in the journey the villain wins the audience is even better.
