As those loyal nine likes on my July 4th review of The World’s End might have gathered, I have a deep appreciation for the proper appropriation of songs in cinema. I hated this film. It was insanely good. The directing was masterful and appealing. The script was humorous and believable. The acting was incredible. Objectively, this movie was spectacular, 4/5 stars. Subjectively, I could only watch through gritted teeth. While I understand Fletchers motives for being a dick, the anger and embarrassment he made me feel rendered this an uncomfortable and sometimes outright painful viewing experience. Although meaningful and important for the themes, it hugely reduced my enjoyment and I watch movies primarily for fun (hence the rating). To end on a nice note though they got band set up exactly right.
