Poltergeist

1982

★★★★★ Liked 1

Why did no one tell me how incredibly awesome poltergeist is?
Hooper and Spielberg direct the shit out of this.
What a scathing critique of 80s suburbia, the house is literally built on top of hundreds of corpses.
The ending is awesome, the graves flying out of the ground and attacking people destroying cars and fire hydrants, the crazy monster ghost, and the house imploding is just the cherry on the damn top.
I thought this was a kids movie for some reason?
80s PG films were another breed man, bring that back.
This must have seriously messed some poor 80s kids up.

I Don't Understand You

Very delightful!
Wonderfully shot, super entertaining, quickly paced, very funny, satisfyingly bloody, and surprisingly heartfelt despite how mean spirited it is.
I need more queer dark comedies.

The Ritual

Wow, what a stinker.
No plot, no characters, no tension, no atmosphere, no depth, bad acting, horrible cinematography, abysmal dialogue, bad score, I really hated most things about it.
Dan Stevens is still hot though.
This was supposed to take place in 1928.

Mr. Crocket

2024

★★★★★ Liked 1

I need like 10 more of these, NOW.
Mr Crockett is honestly probably my second favorite antagonist of the year, right behind longlegs.
So much of this works, the practical effects are superb!
I'll never not giggle and kick my feet in the air in glee when I see a goofy practical creature.

The low budget is felt, and the pacing is a little messy.
but I think if this gets a larger budget sequel that they can go wild with ala critters 2, Mr Crockett can become a modern horror ICON.

Hellboy: The Crooked Man

2024

Why is everyone being so harsh to this film?!?!
It's an incredible adaptation of the crooked man story, Jack kesy is a really damn good hellboy, the vibes are on point and it has super fun action.
As a MASSIVE hellboy fan, this was honestly a dream come true of a film. I finally have a hellboy movie that understands that hellboy isn't a superhero, and has a humongous love for the comics. I really wish they hadn't dumped this…
