I had my eye on this one for quite a while and was just waiting to watch it with my friends. And we ended up loving it. It was funny, really entertaining, and way more satirical than I expected from a 2000s teen comedy.

Vinnie Jones, a Chelsea man through and through, saying Manchester United is the biggest club in the world was kinda hilarious, my United friends were buzzing, and my Chels asswas dying inside xD.

Also, we definitely enjoyed the constant nudity, not even gonna lie xD

I can’t believe what I just watched. What an absolutely brilliant piece of cinema. It takes its time to find the rhythm, but once it gets going, there’s no turning back. The film is filled with twists and turns with a barrage of twists coming at the last 15 minutes of the movie. I almost lost count, but yes, I did count, it was seven twists. One twist can derail a film, seven seems unthinkable. Yet somehow, Billy Wilder pulls it off flawlessly.

Kudos to the entire cast for delivering such awestriking performances. They completely sold the unpredictability of the narrative, making us believe that anything could be possible.

And then there's that genius touch near the end- a notice requesting that no one be seated during the final ten minutes to preserve the surprise, followed by Sir Charles Laughton himself echoing the same. It’s been nearly 70 years since Witness for the Prosecution released, and the magic still holds. Let’s keep it that way :)

There’s something timeless about Nicole Kidman slipping into the skin of a seductive, emotionally unhinged, volatile and vulnerable woman. She did it more than a couple of decades ago and now she's doing it again in her MILF era. Nahh, I'm not complaining even a bit!!

A wildly unconventional ride. The entire movie plays out like a video game, shot entirely in first-person perspective. I had genuinely never seen anything like this before. The story’s solid, but it’s the intense, non-stop action that really grabs you. Sure, the FPP can get a bit much at times, and maybe they could’ve toned the action down a bit, but that raw, gritty energy is part of what makes it so damn unique. Dark, chaotic and very very immersive.

I left this sitting in my watchlist for what feels like forever, almost 6 years since I nearly wrapped up Fincher’s filmography. It’s a decent thriller, though definitely not among his best. But then again, why even compare?

What really stood out was Jodie Foster and how elegant, poised and effortlessly sexy she can be. Honestly, what do I have to do to get locked in the same room as her instead of her daughter 😭. Wait, that didn't sound right.

Sometimes after watching a movie, I feel really confused and overwhelmed. It becomes hard to put my thoughts into words, like the feelings are too complicated to explain in a normal way. This is one of those movies. It doesn’t just tell a story, it digs deep into the hidden parts of the human nature and shows how complex we really are. It’s not just something you watch and forget. It stays with you, making you think long after it ends.

Also, Michael Fassbender has a crazy dick, even if it wasn't real.

Surprisingly subdued for a prison break film, but all the more gripping because of it.
This one had a quiet intensity to it, a Shawshank Redemption vibe, but made 16 years before Shawshank even existed. It’s not your high-octane thriller, but there’s adrenaline in the right places, and the tension simmers beneath every scene. What makes it even more compelling is that it’s based on a true story, set in one of the deadliest prisons ever. That alone keeps you locked in.

Ridley Scott delivers again. Contrary to the many opinions I really thought this was a good movie and in no way is a disaster. The cast is phenomenal across the board, no weak link. Paul Mescal leads with quiet power, carrying the weight of legacy with grit and grace.

The story ties back to the original beautifully. It’s grand, emotional, and violent in all the right ways. My only real complaint? It came out too late. This should’ve hit us years ago.

One line stuck with me Mescal mentions and shows the statue of the she-wolf and the twins, abandoned in the woods, and all I could picture was AS Roma’s crest. That blend of myth, survival, and identity was nicely done.

An epic return to the arena. Worth the wait.

Dev Patel really does it all.. produces, directs, writes and creates fucking chaos on screen. Monkey Man is a dark, brutal ride soaked in vengeance. Think John Wick, but with deeper emotional roots and rawer grit.

The action is relentless, the revenge is personal, and the pacing never lets up. Vipin Sharma steals some scenes as a bold and layered trans. The soundtrack slaps too, keeping the energy high.

It’s an amazing debut.. violent, raw and gritty to the point.

Honestly it took time for me to start liking this, atleast 4 episodes, then got drastically better. DC releasing an anime is always too fun I guess.

A really warm and feel-good movie, layered with so many subtle stories unfolding beneath the main plot. You could also feel the sadness and pain etched into almost every character’s presence, well, maybe not so much Eisenberg’s. The piano-led background score, playing almost from the first frame to the last, was simply beautiful. The comedy landed effortlessly, never feeling forced or out of place. I always have a soft spot for Kieran Culkin, and he shines here as well. Definitely one of those family or sibling-centered road trip films that leaves a lasting impression.

I’ve been working my way through all the A24 releases from the past couple of years, and this is a seriously well-crafted crime thriller that just burns brighter the more it scorches. Had strong Coen brothers energy throughout, dry, bleak, and biting. And damn, the makeup crew did an incredible job making Kristen Stewart look completely unglamorous. She disappears into this grim, twisted world. Dark, brutal, and right up my alley.

My mind is baffled by the fact that not all people know that the director made the bold decision to omit an entire real-life character, Chris Von Erich, the youngest brother who tragically died at 21 in 1991. He believed one more death might break the audience beyond repair. It’s a haunting thought, and a devastating reality that never made it to screen.

By the end, I was absolutely drowning in tears. This isn’t just a pro wrestling movie, it’s a slow, heavy descent into grief, and every 30 minutes seems to cut a little deeper.

The cast is phenomenal. Zac Efron especially, who would've thought the guy from High School Musical could deliver something this raw and powerful? I didn't.

This stays true to the spirit of the original 1966 Batman TV series, complete with the goofy antics, over-the-top ‘old and outdated' dialogues, and campy charm. But honestly, I just couldn’t take it. I’ve never been a fan of that version of Batman, and this only reinforced why. Not for me.

When it’s your own family that holds you back. This hits way deeper than a fight movie. The Fighter is raw, unfiltered, and painfully real. It’s not just about the ring; it’s about the baggage you carry into it. Addiction, broken dreams, sibling rivalry, loyalty, and love, all clashing under the same roof. The punches hurt, but the emotional weight hurts more. No matter how toxic family gets, cutting them off never feels that simple, and this film gets that.

It's a warm and lazy Monday morning here in Kolkata, and I'm on vacation from work. I had almost forgotten that I had watched the Indian adaptation of Warrior i.e. Brothers. Well, obviously, Warrior was much better, as expected. Man, the adrenaline rush I felt while watching this! I nearly choked on my side pillow as Brendan was out there choking every fighter in the ring.
It’s an incredibly entertaining movie and easily one of my favourite combat sports films.

Went to watch it in theatres at long last.
Very rarely have I seen 8 movies in a single film series. The franchise really found its groove after the second part and never looked back, until this one.

There just wasn’t much story left to tell. It felt like they rushed to connect threads that didn’t need connecting. The pacing was noticeably slower than the previous entries, hogged with excessive scenes that dragged on far too long. In classic fashion, I reached the theatre 40 minutes late, and still not once did I feel lost or like I’d missed anything important. That says a lot.

Disappointing? Definitely. But a bad movie? Haha maybe.

It’s honestly eerie watching Tom do what he does at 62. And I’m going to miss that Letterboxd MI Easter egg, easily one of the coolest on the app.

I completed all the six MI movies last year and waited on Dead Reckoning since it was releasing soon after. I don’t get why people keep saying it’s the “same old stuff”. Sure, it’s a long-running series, so some repetition is expected, but Dead Reckoning actually had a pretty solid storyline mixed with some seriously intense action scenes. Yeah, maybe the action isn’t groundbreaking anymore, but honestly, some of those moments hit hard, pure dopamine rush. I didn’t mind it at all.

Watched this tonight, so that I can go to the theatres for the second part tomorrow.

The animation vibes hit that Batman Unlimited style, familiar costumes but not quite my taste, especially Bruce’s face, which felt off. A neat touch was Batman’s chair in the Batcave with the headrest shaped like bat ears, cool detail! The Gotham villains got a wild mutant makeover: Poison Ivy as a plant mutant, a Leopard/Cheetah Bane, Freeze as a polar bear, Jonathan Crane as a mutant crow, a two-faced SWAT cat duo, hyena Harley, and a snake Joker. It's a chaotic mutant mashup. Batman himself morphs into a monster-ish Man-Bat hybrid, or maybe Manbatman? Couldn’t help but chuckle. The story had some solid moments, but the animation kept me at arm’s length. If you missed the post-credits, there’s a sequel likely on the way. Worth a watch for the mutant Gotham fans, but not quite a win for me.

I've waited nearly a quarter of my life to finally watch this. This was always a recipe for disaster. I really love Jim Sheridan's movies. Man, Tobey Maguire did a hell of a job, and Jake is probably one of my favorite actors, so I don't even need to say more about him. This is a really solid story that was destined for chaos as the hours ticked by.

Watched this on the airplane as I go back to my hometown on a 3 week hiatus from work.

Khosla Ka Ghosla is just the ever-ignored struggles of a middle-class or lower-middle-class family. It's a highly underrated and underappreciated Hindi film that has quietly evolved into a timeless cult classic, yet it often remains overlooked.

This 2000s crime comedy was truly ahead of its time. With a brilliant cast, raw and grounded direction, and a story that’s both entertaining and thought-provoking, the film truly stands out as a gem in Indian cinema.

Oh wow, I really liked this. It's such a well-made drama, with a dynamic, emotionally intelligent direction that explores the human condition and all the intricate layers of emotion we navigate daily, especially in our relationships.

Sam Mendes is an exceptional director, and he's made several films that are very close to my heart. The entire cast delivered tremendous performances and were perfectly chosen for their roles.

It shows the American Dream, and the delusions that often accompany it, with sharp precision. It portrays the everlasting hunger for peace and love, which always doesn't come in easy ways. It’s also about coming to with the life you’ve chosen, no matter how difficult that path might be.

Honestly, it’s quite a depressing film with hindsight. But it’s a somber, deeply human investigation into love, disillusionment, and the complicated nature of existence and for some weird reason, I absolutely love it.

Against the Wall might just be the best HBO TV movie I’ve seen in a while and I’ve been watching quite a few of them lately. Most of these ‘90s made-for-cable dramas have solid premises but stumble in execution. Not this one. This one hits hard.

It tells the true story of the 1971 Attica prison uprising. Yep, the same one Al Pacino screams about in Dog Day Afternoon. It’s actually kind of fun to finally see the full story behind that famous "Attica! Attica!" moment, and unsurprisingly, the real thing is way more intense. Grimy, tense, and surprisingly emotional, Against the Wall doesn’t glamorize the violence or simplify the politics. It’s about systems, power, and what happens when people are pushed too far for too long.

Also, Samuel L. Jackson and Kyle MacLachlan's uneasy duo was amazing to watch.

I was craving for some good ol’ 2000s feel-good romcom with that grainy, brownish tint cinematography to watch with my girl. RDJ was in it, so I had no reason to pick anything else. It was funny, adventurous, hit some clichés, but overall, it was really charming and hit me right in the heart.

Could've been a lot better, but I'm glad I finished off the series.

This is definitely one of those movies that kept me either laughing or smiling the entire time. Rush Hour 2 one was funnier, had a better plot, and more character development. Honestly, my favorite part of the Rush Hour movies might be the bloopers at the end, Jackie Chan is such a sweet soul, and Chris Tucker will always be hilarious to me.

After what felt like an eternity of my girl asking me to watch this, it finally came to OTT. And wow, it's a very good movie. I couldn’t believe it’s the same actor who played the father of the boy in Haami!

Set against the backdrop of rural Bengal, this Bengali heist thriller is very well-made as it explores themes of identity, justice, and the facades society wears.

My childhood flashed before my eyes while watching this. I used to see it all the time on HBO or Star Movies. It was great seeing Jackie Chan again after so long. The movie was funny, and it also had a decent plot.

Tom Cruise drives fast, yells louder, and learns life lessons at 200mph. It’s Top Gun on wheels, complete with the sweaty bromance, the mentor with a tragic backstory, and the love interest who heals more than just wounds. Tony Scott paints NASCAR like a neon-soaked battlefield, and Hans Zimmer’s score cranks the drama up to 11. The plot does hit some cliché pit stops here and there, but somehow that’s part of the charm. I love it.

Look, Baby is basically India’s answer to a Bourne movie with a splash of Mission Impossible, and I’m not mad about it as it is good. Akshay Kumar is out here doing roundhouse kicks in perfectly ironed shirts while dismantling terror plots like it’s a casual Tuesday.

Is it subtle? Absolutely not.
Does it go hard? Oh yeah.

The pacing drags a little in the middle, and some of the dialogue is more "government-issued PSA" than natural conversation, but when the action kicks in, it kicks. Also, that Nepal sequence? Really nice.

Taapsee Pannu shows up, slaps a guy around, and exits stage left, legendary behavior. Rana Daggubati spends most of his screentime looking like a walking protein shake. And Anupam Kher just vibes with a laptop.

Patriotic propaganda? Maybe. Entertaining spy thriller? Definitely. However it has significant inspirations from real life events and missions. Could’ve done without the name “Baby” though. Still not over that.

I’ve always loved watching mystery thrillers from the 1990s and early 2000s, especially when they feature an all-star cast from that era like Gene Hackman, Rachel Weisz, Dustin Hoffman, and John Cusack.

Runaway Jury is a solid adaptation of the book, with a few tweaks here and there. Some parts might be a bit hard to swallow, and it’s the kind of story that might not get the greenlight today. Still, I can’t stop watching it. It just has that certain essence I always enjoy.

It’s kinda the perfect movie to watch on a rainy afternoon or during a cozy night in with your partner or a friend.

Aditya Dhar has maybe delivered one of the finest military films Bollywood has ever seen. Unlike many Indian war movies that either go overboard or portray soldiers as superhuman, this film avoids both pitfalls. The storytelling is sharp and focused, free of any unnecessary elements, yet it powerfully captures the essence of a soldier’s life, both on the battlefield and at home. Vicky Kaushal did am amazing job as well.

Here's an honest question for Netflix- Why do you always add an extra episode when the whole thing could'a been done in two ? We got it, now come on, wrap it up already.

I understand what they were trying to achieve, but the result was a complete mess and entirely unnecessary. HBO typically and maintains a higher standard and would not splatter so much excrement but this felt like a misstep on many levels. The acting both on-screen and voice acting were subpar, and the film overall came across as strangely mediocre.

Watched this only because I just watched watchmen and could relate so much of this story to Ozymandias's journey.

Btw, the Rorschache ink blot on the guy's deadbody-ship's mast was cool.

Nothing ever ends

Whenever I watch any version of Watchmen, I can’t help but adore how closely the Tales of the Black Freighter parallels Ozymandias and his journey. I also noticed the intricate details like the poster in Ozymandias’s office about Southern India famine relief. I didn’t realize that famine actually occurred in British India, which was kinda cool.

I really enjoyed the entire movie infact I loved it. The only significant difference was Ozymandias’s final plot device and the execution of his motives. In Zack Snyder’s Watchmen, it involved framing Dr. Manhattan for nuclear explosions across the country. This was likely retconned in the animated version, which went with the giant squid creature threatening global destruction, consequently driving the world toward peace. Both versions fit their respective themes. This animated adaptation felt more faithful to the comics. I love both versions, honestly. I could watch Watchmen anytime, hands down the best superhero movie ever made.

It's really frustrating that I have to give two separate reviews for the same movie, which clearly could have been released as a single film instead of being split into two parts. Nahh, fuck you, I'll only write my review once, and that too in the second chapter cause my life my rules.

So much screen time for so much nothing, basically. It felt like it was missing the interesting pieces and could’ve been a lot better. The whole movie gave me a Woody Allen vibe ngl, but not in a good way.

It explores one of my favorite genres, interconnected lives, through the various characters and their stories within the Shah Jahan Hotel a microcosm of Kolkata society where their lives intertwine. Still, it just couldn’t catch me.

Although it’s an adaptation of the famous Bengali novel Chowringhee, I’ve seen movies like this done much better. This one was kind of a lowkey borefest.

It's a really cute movie but could've cut short all the unnecessary Tollywood bs.

I'm finally getting around to watching these HBO movies that always seemed to pop up on my OTTs. I thought the cast was wonderful, it was great seeing so many familiar faces. John Lithgow, as always, seamlessly blends in with the villainous role. I liked the movie and thought it was a decent adaptation of the true story.

Damn, this was crazy as well. This was as good as the first part of not better. Vijay Salgaonkar is definitely the most intelligent 4th fail I've ever seen.

Ghibli movies are always such a comfort for me and my girl. Ponyo might just be the cutest movie I've ever seen in my entire life. Trisha’s heart couldn’t take it and honestly, neither could mine. I lost it everytime when Ponyo randomly spits water at people.

This is maybe one of the best erotic thrillers I have ever watched. I was really liking it but it is humanely impossible to complete this movie with my girlfriend in a single sitting, no matter how much we tried we... 😫.

Also, Diane Lane looks so much like Blake Lively, the resemblance is almost uncanny.

Me and Trisha always love to watch an aesthetically pleasing Iranian movie, plus point it is animated and beautiful. This is truly an art film. It was almost fascinating listening to the Gibran's dive deep into his beautiful mind.

The movie is definitely not for everyone, if you are in for a slow understanding of what art truly means then go ahead or else you're bound to fall asleep.

After thoroughly watching either all or more than half of these directors' filmographies, I'm boldly committing what some may call blasphemy by crafting a ranked list from their best movies, picking just one from each director that I consider to be their Magnum Opus, rather than my personal favorite. My favorites may differ, but these are the films I deem their best work.

1. Boyhood

   Richard Linklater
   
   Before trilogy ? dazed and confused, waking life, school of rock. No, Boyhood is easily his Magnum Opus and I still thank my girlfriend for showing it.

2. Once Upon a Time in America

   Sergio Leone

   Good bad ugly ? No, this is the cream. The epic-most movie, may be ever made in the history of cinema. Maybe one of the directors of whom I've watched the least number of movies, but this movie speaks for itself.

3. Magnolia

   PTA

   Ouff, there will be blood, boogie nights, phantom thread, the master, hard right, punch drunk love, you keeping a count ? In my review I wrote how much I hated the sacred frog rain at the end, but the rest of the movie is so great that it can be included directly in any list of movies. Magnolia is the cream of movies based on interconnected lives.

4. The Departed

   Sir Martin Fucking Scorsese
   
   Hands down the single most difficult film to choose from a plethora of brilliant movies by the best director living on the planet of earth. King of comedy, taxi driver, raging bull, shutter island, TWOWS, goodfellas, casino, silence, gangs of new york, mean street, the aviator, cape fear yada yada yada. I think king of comedy and taxi driver are my favourites but the sheer brilliance of the departed weirdly takes the cake for me

5. Interstellar

   Christopher Nolan

   Inception, the dark knight rises, oppenheimer, dunkirk, memento, the prestige are all notable, but in the battle between the dark knight and interstellar, I believe this stands out to be an unmatched film spectacle.

6. The Godfather Part II

   Francis Ford Coppola

   Probably the least amount of movies watched of a director in this list. But the list would be a bit empty if not for Coppola. Apocalypse Now, Godfather 1&3, rainmaker, outsiders and the conversation? No, nothing comes close to Godfather part 2.

7. 21 Grams

   Iñárritu
   
   One of my most favourite directors. Babel, amores perros, biutiful, Birdman, revenant. I am yet to watch eleven minutes nine seconds one image but I don't think anything can take the charm of 21 grams.

8. Gangs of Wasseypur – Part 2

   Anurag Kashyap
   
   The only other Indian director in the list, maybe the best 21st century Indian director. It's nearly impossible to choose from GOW 1&2 so gave the 2nd part. Ugly, dev d, black friday, no smoking, ak vs ak a lot to choose from but GOW is anurag's Magnum Opus.

9. Se7en

   David Fincher

   People may threaten me for ditching fight club but may forgive me to see Se7en instead of anything else. Gone girl, game, the social network comes close. Maybe i should've replace this with the curious case of Benjamin button as it's my favourite but then it would be hypocritical to bias myself over favourites now after all the other threads.

10. Dogville

    Lars Von Trier
    
    Probably the most controversial director in this list. I have not watched the golden heart trilogy of breaking the waves, dancer in the dark and the idiots but I still know what to expect. I've watched the depression trilogy of melancholia, antichrist and nymphomaniac 1&2. Also, house that jack built and manderlay to choose from. But nothing is as dark as Dogville from the ones I have watched.
