Shirley Jackson ed away just two years after the release of Robert Wise's "The Haunting"; I haven't been able to find anything online to indicate whether or not the author was fond of Wise's adaptation, but I hope she was pleased with the way the director was able to artfully translate her timeless novel to the screen: rightfully heralded as a horror classic, "The Haunting" is a case study in the terrifying possibilities of the unseen.
