Honestly, I still don't know what to say.

It's bittersweet, really. I didn't hate the episodes as much as others did, and I actually had a good time with them. Loved the Rani (although she deserved more), the wish world, and I didn't mind the resolution. The writing definitely isn't great, and it makes me sad because this show used to be so much better, and I blame Disney for this. But what makes me sadder is watching Ncuti leave. He has become one of my favorite Doctors; he's fantastic and full of energy, and I loved everything he brought to the role. He deserved so much more, but he was a perfect Doctor, and it was kind of a sweet goodbye, but I am not okay with this.

I did love seeing Jodie Whittaker again; what a surprise!

Once again, watching this one for no reason in particular...

Perhaps one of my favorite classic Who serials from the ones I've seen so far. It's a great multidoctor story, with a bit of a silly plot, fun effects and foes, and I love the dynamic between the Second and the Third Doctor, they are just insane, and I adore them. Omega is a hilarious, histrionic villain, just incredibly theatrical, and it was just a great, engaging watch.

This was a lot of fun! It's a wonderful special, and the plot works as the perfect excuse to bring all of these Doctors back (even though we only get archive Tom Baker) with their companions and a bunch of iconic enemies. It's a bit contrived but a really good time, with fun moments and interactions, and it was fun seeing the different pairings and adventures each Doctor goes through (the Raston Warrior Robot was immediately iconic).

I just wish there were more interactions between the characters, and this made me realize I need to see more Second Doctor serials, he's so small and hilarious.

Honestly, not very good and a little dull, and Colin Baker is my least favorite from the classic Doctors I've seen, but this was fun at times. The Doctor, The Master, and The Rani interacting with each other is the best part, and I liked Peri as well.

I'm not familiar with what it is parodying, so maybe that's why I didn't get everything, but this was a different Keaton film, and I liked it. The snowy setting and the crazy antics feel different than his usual, and there are some great gags here. It's also the most insane Keaton film. In the first few minutes, he robs a bar, kills two people, and leaves his wife unconscious. Great ending, tho.

Not sure if I liked this one or the second more (for me, both have their flaws and strengths), but honestly, even tho they're clearly the weakest of the franchise, they're still an awesome time.

This one feels like a tighter spy thriller from the start. It's not as stylish, so it doesn't have much of a flair or something that kept me invested as it went along, but it's quite gripping, and I love that the stakes change and Ethan feels like a more rounded character now. It's fun, there are amazing set pieces, even if they become a bit repetitive, and I didn't care much bout the ending, but Philip Seymour Hoffman is just the best in everything he did, so he makes the movie even better.

Had a smile on my face the whole time while watching, because it's just so awesome to see people making movies, and the effort that goes behind it just makes me appreciate it even more. The amount of detail here is impressive, the making and the movement of the puppets, the detail of the miniatures always blow my mind, the scenes they shoot at the pool with the exploding ships, the remote control helicopters, the detail of Godzilla and Biollante's design, it's all really impressive and I love it. Also, it's interesting to see here how the movie came to be, and all the stuff and scenes that were left out of the film. Everyone talks bout the beautiful scene with the roses on the hill, but there's also the awesome stop-motion sequence, and the animated ending (???). I really like seeing this, and now I like the movie even more.

For me, a prime Kaiju movie. I was kind of wary after being disappointed by The Return of Godzilla, but this immediately became one of my favorite Godzilla movies.

There's a lot of ridiculous stuff, and a bunch of different plots crammed into one movie. There's Godzilla, but there's also something about science and the fight for a bioweapon, there's a story of grief and a scientist preserving the soul of his daughter, a spy story in the middle of it (honestly, my least favorite part of the whole thing, they could've just cut it), and a lot of focus on fighting and the military attempt to stop Godzilla. It's crazy, and it shouldn't work, but there's something incredibly balanced and gripping about it. The human plot is interesting; there's a lot of tension, and emotionality that comes from grief, as well as the image of Biollante and this rose. But Godzilla also has a lot of gravitas in this movie, and I found him to be terrifying here. The design of the suit is amazing (I still can't believe this is a suit), and it has some weight and perfect detail to it: the massive body, the multiple teeth, the articulation and the way it roars, and the close-ups to the eyes, it's amazing, and the fights between Godzilla and Biollante feel incredible and just gripping.

It's also a really good-looking film, and the Criterion restoration on the Blu-ray is wonderful, with pristine detail and a lot of care put into it. It's just so fun, and this might just become my Godzilla comfort movie.

This review may contain spoilers.

Perhaps one of the most beautiful and shattering endings I've ever seen in a film. James Caan's Sonny appears first, a ghost of the past, as we see an old, familiar dinner scene. It's the haunting image of a happy family, all the brothers together, some kind of harmony that suddenly seems distant, impossible, like a rotting photograph. But in this image, Michael also sits alone, away from his family, standing with his ideas, echoing the rise of his empire but the destruction of his world... He's a king, a Caesar, but there's nothing beside him, just an unbearable coldness, the empty silence, the sacrifice of love. It's the perfect conclusion to the film and both its storylines, the formation and destruction of the family, the greed, and a world that only seems to befit from hate and deceit.

My first time watching this masterpiece, and I'm just glad I got to see it in theaters. Not everything works for me, which is why I prefer the more straightforward script of the first movie, but it's just such a massive, tragic, and wonderful film, I'm just glad I get to watch it. A beautiful film about love, as it breaks and becomes forgotten, history and family suddenly buried by the winter snow, just empty...

Sorry, but I had the time of my life with this movie. Watching a Looney Tunes movie in theaters was an incredible experience, and the beautiful dinamic animation, and the fun plot just made for an awesome movie. It's very sci-fi/horror inspired, with direct nods to genre classics (there's a scene with a Thing-like monster, and it's amazing), and a sweet story about Porky and Daffy's friendship. It's histeric, it's non-stop with it's nonsense and amazing antics, and it's just very loud and chaotic... I love it. It's fun, there's a hilarious alien, zombie gum, Daffy Duck twerking, boba tea, and really, I feel like a kid, but this was the best time ever.

I'm surprised to see people don't like this one as much, and sure, it's very silly and ungrounded, and it doesn't compare to the classic screwball comedies, but it's so so fun, and I really enjoyed it.

Cary Grant and Ginger Rogers are a perfect pair, playing a married couple who reflect on their lives, feeling like they never have fun anymore. But the movie takes a fantastic twist, and a magic potion created by a monkey appears (it's ridiculous, and that makes me love it even more), which makes everyone who takes it act like children, and god, it's a riot. It's non-stop insanity and fun, Cary Grant pulling some Buster Keaton kind of stunts, and being extremely silly with a questionable haircut.

Also, I've realized this is the first Ginger Rogers film I've ever seen, and I don't know why I imagined her completely different. I thought she was a classic, statuesque Hollywood lady (like Lauren Bacall or Grace Kelly), but she is extremely goofy here, and god, she is fantastic. She plays, she hops, she laughs, she dances (duh), and she does things with her face that outshine Cary Grant, and it's just a wonder to see her. It's a very strange and quite a silly movie, but I had fun and I always enjoy Howard Hawks.

Furiosa, furiosa, furiosa. Escupiéndole en la cara a los gringos y al sistema que todo lo devora.

The kitchen as a surreal, exaggerated stage that represents the anxiety, the fears, the violence, the dreams, the nightmares, and the heartbreak that comes from the United States, from imperialism and immigration. Alonso Ruizpalacios transforms this mediocre space in the middle of Times Square into a circus, a place where no one ever speaks one language, where everyone screams, it floods, it burns, and it just crashes into absolute madness. The kitchen becomes the place of the regenades, finding community amongst the insults and the dreams, but it also becomes a ticking time bomb, a pkace of frustrated aspirations and dirt, shit, and nothingeness.

It falls apart sometimes, and I wish the movie were tighter at the beginning with some of its plots, but as it progresses, it becomes even more claustrophobic, ending preferably in chaos, almost like a silent and melancholic revolution. It's the things the regenade dreams of in the dirty alleys of New York... love, a house, a job, or simply disappearing forever, owning nothing to one. Being able to live by yourself inside a system that just wants to devour you.

It's the weight of absence, the silence, the inability to speak about the pain and the loss... Everything feels cold in the sunlight, and each vignette of daily life feels distant, broken, drenched in painful contemplation. It's the pain of grief, the rage that boils underneath, but no matter what we do, there's no answer, there's no healing, just a feeling of emptiness in every memory, something that haunts us in the dark.

Finding purpose, life, and connection in even the smallest of things. The time it takes to cook the beans, the cool sensation of the wind, the bright, pink leaves of the cherry trees, the conversations, the people, the gestures... making life a game, learning to live despite the difficulties, and finding the light in what you do in life. The images of light sneaking between the trees, the sound of the river, of the birds, it's all so mundane, something we take for granted, but maybe for someone out there, the light of the sun means the world, the possibility of freedom. Maybe we can learn, take our time, and find joy; lose ourselves in the steam, the flavors, the wonderful taste of food well-made.

Completely in awe with the final shot of this. We zoom out of the hospital, standing by the highway, and we can only hear the traffic and nothing else. Suddenly, everything we've just seen seems distant, hidden away inside the stoic building, with hundreds of people and stories inside these walls, unknown to us. And that's the wonder of Hospital, the careful observation and unassuming looks, as we become spectators of the daily life of a hospital, the struggles and stories. It's both beautiful and hard; we see a woman talk to her mother in a critical condition, another trans lady struggling, feeling like there's something wrong with her, and people in precariousness, trying to get help, fearing, and living in pain. But there's assistance, there's beauty here, a woman holds her husband's hand as he gets operated, we hear nurses and doctors fighting to give some people a living; there's something else beyond the pain.

My first Frederick Wiseman documentary, and something incredibly humane that immediately captured me. Really interested in seeing more of his filmography.

Honestly, had a hard time sitting through the movie, and it's the most people I've seen walk out of a theater (I counted at least 20), but I'm not sure yet what to make of it.

Beyond the ethical question of bullfighting, something that I'm completely against, this is a documentary that feels completely vacuous and unnecessarily long. It's a portrait of the bullfighter, his conversations, his daily life before the show, and the carnage that he commits against the bull. It was interesting at first, and as nauseous and bloody as it was, I wanted to see where this was going... And it goes nowhere, really. Serra is clearly interested in movement and capturing the bullfights, and sure, there are some beautiful images, but the documentary ends up being repetitive,e and it says nothing by the end. It's empty and terribly apolitical on a subject that is deeply political, and I feel like the material and the idea had so much more to give. Honestly, found it to be annoying by the end, and I believe there's almost no difference in watching this and an actual bullfight, which makes the whole thing even more grating and empty.

An image of a dream, a perfect illusion. Blue skies, pink sweaters, palm trees, dreams of stardom, of love, something that feels almost too perfect to be true... It's just like in the movies, pretending to have a life that doesn't exist, playing a part that you wish to live in forever. But it's impossible. Something hides underneath, an exasperating hum, an inescapable darkness. It's the call of terror, heartbreak, real life... there's not a magic way to get out of here, you just wish to live in dreams... it all fades in smoke.

Had the opportunity to watch this in theaters again, and it was probably one of the best cinema experiences I've had. I was transfixed and completely lost in the movie, wishing it would never end. The audience was silent and engaged (which, for an old movie, feels like the best you can expect), and they only laughed when it ended, but at that point, I couldn't care less. It's a masterpiece and, for me, one of the most heartbreaking movies ever made. I'm glad David Lynch got to make art like this.

A wonderful, sweet gem of Brazilian cinema, an ode to freedom and old age, to independence and living life away from the control of others. I really liked The Blue Trail, it's a sci-fi futuristic film that feels almost real, criticizing the way we treat our elders and how governments prey on its citizens. But more than that, it's a beautiful story of a woman who seeks her freedom, who travels, who gets lost in the beautiful landscapes of the Amazon, finding new experiences, new friendships, and making her own future.

It's a wonderful movie, visually stunning, and both funny and meditative. It's surpisingly surreal at times, hallucinogenic, with trippy music like an espace to a grim reality, filled with ruins and the resistance of the people.

Honestly, this was not a great movie, but I had fun with it. I watched it dubbed in Spanish projected in a local bookstore with homemade popcorn, and it just made the whole experience a bit jarring but a lot more fun. It's a very '50s movie, and I think I was expecting something different from the poster, which was somewhat of a disappointment. I enjoyed the effects and the futuristic sets, the painted background, and I loved Robby the robot; he was kind of fun. But also, it's a very odd film at times, with a plot that I wasn't really interested in and a focus on the dangers of the mind and humanity. Also, it's very misogynistic (Anne Francis's character doesn't even have a relevance to the plot; she's like decoration) and jarring, and I don't know, kind of had fun with it, its always interesting to see sci-fi from this era, but also, it's definitely not a good movie.

For some reason, I have never seen Mission Impossible 2 or three, even though I've seen all of the others. Maybe it's because I heard they are bad, but honestly, I really liked this one, and I will defend it.

It's very cheesy, more than I was expecting, particularly with the romantic plot. Every scene with Thandiwe Newton's character feels grating, and the writing is just laughable at times (I was rooting for them though, everyhitn gis just very 2000's). But I ended up appreciating the style of the movie, and I had a lot of fun with it. Not everything works, and it takes a while to get going, but it becomes more awesome as it goes along, and it's just a really cool thing to watch.

Jon Woo's direction is noticeable, and his influence from kung fu and gun fu movies is clear, with incredible action sequences (the motorcycle chase in the end is the most amazing thing ever) that carry a distinct style: slow-mo, lots of jumping and explosions, awesome zooms, and Tom Cruise just looking amazing while doing everything. I really liked this, and even if it feels cheesy and campy at times, I appreciated the style and it's just another cool Mission: Impossible film.

Had the opportunity to watch this film in theaters, and even though I've had this on my watchlist for a while, I wasn't sure what to expect, and I still ended up feeling disappointed.

I don't know; the subject matter is a bit odd, and I feel like the movie tries to do something radical with the themes of the Holocaust and the postwar, but it ends up feeling... strange. I think I get what Liliana Cavani is trying to do, but the film never came together for me. There are glimpses of things, a dark commentary of a war that repeats itself, a love (not really) story, something about trauma and longing, and maybe something satiric about the regime and those who survived. But the movie never gives enough time for anything, not to its dark eroticism or its bleak demeanor, and I wish it did more.

It's a very strange narrative, maybe sometimes uncomfortable, and I didn't always connect with it, but the ending and the isolation became more pressing and melancholic towards the end, and I wish more of the movie was like that. I don't know. It's a weird movie; it never truly says much I believe.

Honestly, it was fun, but this is among my least favorite of the Buster Keaton shorts I've seen. The plot is not super interesting, but I believe they could've done so much more with it. Most of the gags are okay, and nothing really surprised me or had me in stitches; there were some really cool things towards the end (the 3 men walking on top of each other), but I think I know to expect more creativity from these Keaton pictures.

It's kind of the warmth and the beauty of the mundane, the cold lights of delis and the beautiful lights of the New York streets, the people, the songs, the ridiculous situations, the stories, the pickles, the love. It's the familiar and the sweet, the streets flowing with garbage and the dances, something away from the intellectualism, and ceremony of conferences, and "important" figures, poetry that has to be experienced not read. It's messy, it's charming and beautiful, a little strange movie, but it's a really sweet romantic comedy, very Jewish, very New York, and I really think I'll like Joan Micklin Silver a lot.

I don't care what anyone says, this is an awesome film. It's very cheesy at times, and there are some ridiculous moments, like the ending with the helicopter, but it's a very cool film that plays with the classic tropes of the spy genre, and De Palma fills everything with tension and twists.

"The Negro performer is still in battle with the white man's image of the Negro, which the white man clings to in order not to be forced to revise his image of himself."

More standard than I was expecting, particularly compared to the other works I've seen by Marlon Riggs. It has lots of talking heads and a very straightforward way of presenting its narrative, but it's still a great documentary. It's something very insightful, and it was a really interesting watch, a study of the representation of black people in television in America and the way representation shapes perception and reality. Creating ideals, falsehoods, myths, and stereotypes, but also the possibility of creating something closer to reality. But what is reality? The miriad of visions and representations, not one narrative but multiple. Representation is complex, and this documentary perfectly tackles this matter, studying the history of television, refusing to be marked under one simple box.

We never hear Marlon Riggs' voice, but perhaps the most powerful moments of the documentary is when his direction becomes more apparent. The editing, the overlapping of images of idealized TV worlds and the crude reality of black life in America, the captions, the quotes by James Baldwin, all separate the documentary from simple ive watching, and it becomes an exercise of constant questioning. What is reality? What is ideal representation? Is this ideal enough? Do we conform to masks in order to be accepted? What does it mean to be represented? I wish more of the documentary were like this, but I still really liked it, and it has a perfectly structured narrative.

"All roles are dangerous. The world tends to trap you in the role you play and it is always extremely hard to maintain a watchful, mocking distance between oneself as one appears to be and oneself as one actually is."

I didn't know what to expect since I had never heard much about this one, but now it might be one of my favorite Buster Keaton films.

The setting of the boat is quite different, and I love how many new gags and creative ideas can come from the characters being in just this one place, and there were many hilarious sequences that I loved. The number of gags involving water and falling out of the boat, the tilting, the idea of the "haunted" ship, and the diving (never in my life would I've thought to see Buster Keaton having a swordfight with a swordfish while in a diving suit), make for amazing moments, and I had a great time. I loved the idea of man against the boat and technology, a prey to nature (but I also love how they ingeniusly solve their problems), and the ship as the biggest problem in the film, so the whole sequence with the "cannibals" is not only dated, but I coul'd ve done without it. Wonderful movie; the hour just flies by.

A classic, quiet, very elegant, and precise spy thriller, something that takes its time in silence and conversation, away from action and explosions, but simply tangles you into the mystery, eyes glued to the screen. I really really enjoyed this, it takes hold of you from the first minutes, with amazing scenes and carefully placed interactions, and it's very pleasing to see how it comes together. It's cold, with lighting that bursts and blinds you, never revealing the truth until the very end. It's ionate, it's romantic, and I wish it dropped its facade even more, maybe sometimes it feels too cold mostly from Fassbender's side, but it's quite a beautiful movie about truth, relationships, and trust, and just something very cool, very careful in each movement. Great time at the movies, and of course, my dad loved it.

I loved how beautiful everything looked in the technicolor magic, but I feel like there's something missing. It's a lovely romance story, something that goes from screwball to tragedy, but with an arresting feeling of beauty in certain scenes and wonderful chemistry. A new era of Godzilla! And it really feels like a completely different thing. It's quite strange, and there's a lot to unpack here, it's messy and something that definitely belongs to the 80s, to the Cold War and a new conception of humanity, but also a change in style and aesthetics which was fun to see.

There's a lot of influence from sci-fi horror here, particularly at the beginning of the movie, the thing or Alien maybe, with mummified corpses and disgusting bugs, and the terror of the monster we cannot see but suddenly appears. Godzilla manages to be quite terrifying here, just an animal destroying and burning everything. But there's also a romantic conception of the story and the characters, very in line with Japanese cinema that further developed in the 90s (Kitano, Ishii, and the boom of animation), which somehow makes Godzilla feel like an afterthought in the story sometimes. It's more about survival and political conflicts, about humanity and its crazy new technologies, the impossible weapons and the satellites, but also the danger of a nuclear world and the fear that lies above us.

It's fun, but it sometimes feels inconsistent between its approach towards a serious subject matter and the ridiculousness that we see (fun attack weapons, Godzilla waking up by lightning, red skies, and a homeless man stealing), and it's messy. But hey, I had a great time even if it dragged toward the end.

The end of the world, the hope, the beauty, the darkness, the heartbreak, the parting of the ways, the wonder and the fear; the world seems impossible, bigger, terrifying, but also filled with some kind of unexpected magic, hope, love, and friendship.

Perhaps one of the most beautiful pieces of cinema ever made, and easily one of the greatest accomplishments, one of the best movies ever put on the big screen. It's a perfect conclusion to the trilogy, everything coming together, all the battles and the stories, the bonds and the burdens, the kings and the blood, the magic and the unity in battle and war. There's no doubt that it's the best of the trilogy, not only because of how it wraps up the story and everything we have seen so far, but it's also the way in which it manages to create a beautiful narrative, something deeply emotional and perfectly structured. The personal and the universal battles, the men and the heroes who ride toward their death, unsure of what to expect, but never giving up, side by side with one another... maybe through the path of death, maybe to see another day shine.

It's a world that heals and dies at the same time, a world that is saved but whose magic breaks at the same time... It's the beauty of the mundane, of the unexpected, small heroes, the taste of strawberries and the softness of the grass, but also the light beyond the sea, the infinite adventures, the end of the road. I don't know, there are not words for how monumental and epic this movie is, and I believe there will never be anything like it again, massive, exciting, and with unforgettable battles, but also deeply tender and heartfelt, something I can't even articulate. God, what a wonder, a world I wish I didn't have to leave behind.

(I was lucky enough to watch the first two hours in theaters but had to finish the movie at home because of work. Nevertheless, it may have been one of my favorite experiences ever, and seeing the trilogy again has just rekindled my love for the world that Tolkien created, and each and every character)

It felt like it was trying too much to capture the same magic as The Awful Truth, and it has some wonderful moments, some fun bickering and I especially liked the second half, but there's something way more composed and "normal" about it, and I don't think it manages to capture the same feelings and its plot can only do so much for so long before it feels like waiting fr something to happen. The scale of these films is marvelous, and seeing it on the big screen made it all even more fantastic (although some of the shorter fight scenes felt a bit choppy). I just love getting lost in this world, the fun characters, and the beautiful landscapes. I think this one, even if it's not the best, might be my personal favorite, there's something so tender and terrifying about it, the idea of leaving home, of risking it all but finding a community, but also the weight of the task and everything that is to come. Beautiful film.

(English translation at the end)

***

The 50 highest-rated Colombian films on Letterboxd. This takes into movies produced in the country or made by Colombian directors, considered as "Colombian cinema" by Proimágenes Colombia.

Following the parameters of the official list of the site, I removed all stand-up specials, plays, concert films, documentaries, and shorts.

Films must have a minimum of 100 views and 50 ratings to enter the list. They may seem few, especially when compared to the minimum of 2,500 on the Official list, but given the really small number of Colombian s on Letterboxd, it was necessary to adjust. The idea is to progressively raise the minimum ratings and increase the number of movies on the list.
