Hey Disney, when you plan on crafting a live action adaptation since you are out of about every original idea, adapt your stories authentically like this.

How To Train Your Dragon was excellent. I do believe that the animated and original version is slightly better, but this really shined, especially in IMAX. The overall sets, production value, costume design, cinematography, and story translation were all done so incredibly well. Dreamworks absolutely nailed it with adapting a beloved animated classic for the big screen.

The VFX looked great for the most part and really helped bring the Isle of Berk to life. Toothless was perfect so hats off to them for not giving him the Sonic treatment. The acting was actually really good in this with two main standouts. Gerard Butler and Mason Thames. There were multiple scenes where I sat there genuinely impressed as to how invested these two were in delivering such a genuine performance that made me so appreciative for what this film was aiming for in of the emotional layer. And one final talking point, the Test Drive scene was incredible. John Powell is and absolutely brilliant composer. Get me to Epic Universe now please.

Overall, I would say if you are a fan of the franchise or the original, definitely give this a chance. There are certain stories I believe can translate well in live action formats, and I am happy to say that How To Train Your Dragon is one of those stories. Here is to a great summer at the movies and the sequel releasing in 2027.

When it comes to Wes Anderson films, I am not necessarily his biggest fan, but I completely understand why people love him. His style is so distinct and his ability to draw in so many A Listers is genuinely impressive.

My overall thoughts on The Phoenician Scheme are simply I enjoyed it more than I thought I would and I thought it was better than Asteroid City. While I am still unsure on where I stand with the actual theological messaging/ symbolism within the film, which was one of my prior critiques of Asteroid City, I am curious what Wes Anderson’s perspective and belief is on Christianity. From the overall story, I thought this one flowed and was structured much better than his prior film. This was a very strong cast that really elevated this film to have extremely unique and distinct characters. I also really enjoyed the musical score with that grainy vinyl sound layered onto every instrument. While I feel like Wes Anderson films all feel similar in composition, which you could say this about any director/ franchise, I do feel a little bit like I’ve watched the same film multiple times when seeing his filmography. Overall, The Phoenician Scheme is a solid watch and I’m grateful for AMC Stubs A-List to allow for theater viewings like this.

I think my opinion would have been higher on this had I seen this in IMAX. This being said, I vaguely seeing The Blue Angels in Pensacola as a kid and now I want to see them again. I also just want to go to Florida and the beach again. This is a fun documentary that probably could have been trimmed down by about 20-30 minutes. The footage and aerial cinematography is pretty awesome but outside of that, I can’t say I was super invested into everything else. Overall, it is a decent watch that I’m sure would be elevated in IMAX or in this instance, seeing The Blue Angels in person.

I thought I was over John Wick films, but I was wrong. This has one of the stronger stories in the John Wick universe with some incredible action sequences. While this probably won’t profit nor get the publicity it needs and deserves, I would like to see how Eve’s story continues. Between Thunderbolts, MI: The Final Reckoning, and now The Ballerina, the summer is starting off strong and I believe we are about to head into a great stretch with HTTYD, F1, Jurassic World: Rebirth, Superman, and Fantastic Four: First Steps.

Okay, Moneyball lives up to the hype.

I have been putting this movie off for years, and I’m an absolute fool for doing so. Now, I was waiting for baseball season to roll around as it felt more fitting to watch this. With the Hogs headed to Omaha and a slight interest in watching MLB games as of recently, I felt this was a perfect film to keep the wave going.

Man. I’ll just start this off with the best quote in the movie. “How you can you not be romantic about baseball?”

Brad Pitt is absolutely phenomenal in this with an ensemble cast in Jonah Hill, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Chris Pratt. It’s genuinely hard for sports films to be good without leaning into the super corny tropes most sports films have or a having very vacant cinematic touch. The cinematography in Moneyball is incredible with such a great musical score creating for some captivating moments. Which speaking of, when Chris Pratt’s character, the first baseman’s name who I am blanking on, hit the walk off to reach the 20 win streak, I almost stood up and cheered. This takes such a unique concept creating an incredibly engaging story with such a heartbreaking ending, which I didn’t expect to feel emotional about Moneyball yet here I am.

Overall, just excellent filmmaking from a director who hasn’t done much upon examining his filmography. This is a perfect film to watch in the heart of baseball season and my heart goes out to long time fans of Oakland Athletics and professional sports fans (I’m sorry y'all have no more teams). This is what cinema was made for.

Upon second viewing, the strengths of this film stood out all the more as well as its weak points. The action is probably the best in the series as a whole with two incredible set pieces. The pacing and narrative cohesion is a little clunky with rather subpar adversaries. The stakes and emotion are high and the ending monologue was just incredible yet again. IMAX really does elevate cinema and the omission of that aspect ratio does minimize the overall experience. In the end, it’s a good finale to a great overall franchise.

I am so torn between giving this a 2.5 or 3, but since Ohana means family and that means no one gets left behind, I guess that means half stars don’t either. I have a lot more criticisms than I do praises for Lilo & Stich. But to be honest, the best part of this is no further than the title of the film itself. Lilo was casted well, and she actually delivered a good performance. Chris Sanders reprising his role as Stitch along with the high quality level of animation really worked for me. Everything else, well, let’s just say I have some thoughts.

First off, I have a question to ask the mouse we all used to love so dearly. Is Disney allergic to making an accurate live-action adaption? They change character elements, omit characters that added layers to the story, introduce characters that no one cares about, and add unnecessary plot points to a story that was already great as is. This is not just a Lilo & Stitch problem, this is a live action adaptation problem that’s been recurring again and again and again. Jumba has no Russian accent, L. Captain Gantu allegedly “didn’t work” for live action, yeah okay. The story had elements added in or taken away including the great finale spaceship scene, booo. And also, it’s been a tough weekend for fans of Ving Rhames, and I’ll just leave it at that.

Another criticism I have, which this is something infiltrating many modern films, is how void of color and vibrancy this film is. If this takes place in Hawaii, I want the sunsets and the sunrises and the beautiful orange, red, and pink hues in the sky and the landscape to really elevate the scenery. Instead, everything is “filmed” in the middle of the day for the sake of a clear image creating a very basic and boring color palette. This is where animation can truly have much greater storytelling and a more immersive visual presence solely based off of having different colors and art styles that really draw the viewer in.

There are some positives here, however. The story for the most part covers the important plot details. This is a movie I see quite a few families enjoying which is something that doesn’t seem very prominent in the modern age. This is also about to sur the greatest film of all time, Top Gun: Maverick, by setting a record for the Memorial Day weekend box office. The CGI actually looked really good too which is something you don’t hear much when it comes to massive modern blockbusters. The music was a vibe as well so I can’t complain about that either. Nani.

Anyways, Disney is going to make more of these and I hope that when the next film is green lit within the next week, they actually try to make this film look more vibrant instead of filming on a high noon gray scale. Overall, it’s fine and not the worst I’ve seen, but I wish there was a higher emphasis on actually trying to carry over the small details for long time fans of such beloved stories.

Oh and one more thing. If anyone knows me, they know I am a huge fan of Disney World and Disneyland. If you are throwing millions of dollars at adapting an animated IP that’s been extremely popular for years and having a massive live action release in theaters, why is there zero theme park presence of this film in your two biggest parks? I absolutely love the Polynesian breakfast, but there are zero rides/ attractions for Lilo & Stitch in Disney’s two most popular theme park destinations. Just a thought for Robert and crew. Only if there was a way somehow they could incorporate a Hawaiian Rollercoaster ride….

I know I just went off on a rant, and I’m becoming the very thing I thought I wouldn’t be, a pretentious cinema snob. The original far outweighs this one, but at least people are in the theaters (a rant for another time). I think the Disney we all loved is gone, but what an incredible run it was.

Alright everyone, the moment you have all been waiting for. The Final Reckoning is here and I think it does stick the landing for the most part. Per usual, there are no spoilers from me here so no worries to the reader. This is not a perfect film, but I think it delivers in the ways that it needed to leaving me with a more positive impression that my initial viewing of Dead Reckoning in July of 2023, which is not a bad film just not a top tier MI film. Now, let’s dive in, pun intended of course.

The stakes here are massive and the biggest they have ever been. I feel that this is Mission: Impossible operating to the highest degree it possibly can in of the actual problem at hand and the ramifications of what could happen if failure occurs. The action is probably the best it has ever been despite this being a much more dialogue driven film which I’m still indifferent towards, some of it worked and some of it did not. I believe this film will reward long time and loyal fans (me, I am one of them) but if you have not watched all of these films, you may feel less invested or slightly lost, which this is a good aspect in my personal opinion because it increases the value of prior stories and doesn’t diminish the earlier films. The film starts off strong in my opinion, has a bit of a slower section to where I felt the runtime a little bit. This changed and kicked into hyperdrive for the last 90 minutes or so of the film which was just incredible. The two big set pieces in here are probably the best ones we have seen in any MI film to date in of having such a dramatic contrast yet having similar importance and thrill. Something that might be under appreciated is the musical score which I thought was excellent and I wanted to make sure that it was highlighted and recognized, hats off to Lorne Balfe.

Despite all this, The Final Reckoning is not a perfect film, and I expected it to have similar issues to the last entry. I don’t think Gabriel is a good villain, he’s just fine. To be fair, this has never been the franchise’s strength, but I wish for this being the final entry, as of this moment, that we would have a more personal and gravitas performance if you will from a more prominent and interesting actor. Another issue is the Entity. In some ways it works and it others it does not, and that is all I will say on the matter. My other issue is that this feels so narratively deep that it becomes messy and convoluted to where it’s hard to truly buy in to the story due to the adversary at hand and how the characters are transported from place to place. However, it does so well enough to where I didn’t find it to be completely non cohesive.

Overall, this is a solid entry in the series with more heart and emotion than expected that leaves the series on a high note for me with an extremely high stakes story. Tom Cruise redefines action cinema placing Mission: Impossible in the highest caliber in which I will always be grateful for. If this is truly the last story we see of the IMF, I was grateful to accept these missions and I’m happy I was along for the ride.

This review will self-destruct in 5 seconds.

While this film does not have the same value or impact as its predecessor, it’s still a very respectable entry into the Mission: Impossible franchise and action films as a whole. I do miss the visual style of Fallout from its framing and overall look, but this film still shines. The first act is a little slow and less interesting for my personal liking, but from the title sequence and on its wonderful, especially the third act on the Orient Express. With a lot of new faces and characters in this one, the whole world of MI felt like it really took a large leap in having multiple character arcs and stories intertwining with one another. Overall, this is a really great action film that has a shakier story but delivers on the big thrills, stunts, and moments one would expect from the Mission: Impossible franchise.

While I did enjoy Andor, I’m not as high on it as other people are, but it still adds great value to the best Star Wars production in the last decade. With Gareth Edwards at the helm and Greig Fraser as the DP, it’s just bound to look incredible on a visual spectacle. There are many moments in this film just dripping with cinematic sauce. This truly feels like a love letter to all Star Wars fans with moments for fans of all generations to enjoy. The third act in this film is one of the best in any film I’ve ever seen with the closing scene being just pure movie magic. Rogue One truly is a one of one Star Wars film, a rogue one if you will.

You’re kidding me

John Williams is the greatest pioneer of cinematic musical scores making himself really a one of one. I genuinely have no idea how he crafted absolute masterpieces time and time and time again. It’s truly hard to put into words how substantial of an impact he has had not only cinema, but music as a whole. Star Wars is not Star Wars if it’s not for Johnny. The same criteria falls for Jaws, Indiana Jones, E.T., Superman, Jurassic Park, and Harry Potter (he has many more, but just think of how iconic these pieces are). This was on my watchlist for months now and all I can say is wow. Disney + stinks at crafting authentic and engaging original content outside of few exceptions, but this goes insanely hard. Steven Spielberg and John Williams are the greatest composer director duo ever. With George Lucas, Steven, and John, this is MJ, Pippen, and Rodman. I know generation Z has overblown and used this term excessively, but this is absolute cinema. This is what timelessness sounds like in the entertainment industry.

Picture this. It’s a warm May night, you are out of or almost out of school for the year, or maybe it’s the weekend if you are working full time. We are living in the pre pandemic 2010’s and summer is on its way. You and your family and friends just got out of the theaters and are doing a full post breakdown of the MCU film you just watched excited for what’s next and recapping a great night at the cinema. these fond memories of the past? Well tonight my friends, I felt that once more.

It’s been a long journey, but I think Marvel is back. Between the global success of last year’s Deadpool and Wolverine, the solid box office numbers from Brave New World, there was a lot banking on Thundebolts*. I can happily say that they stuck the landing leaving me and many others very happy campers. Let’s dive in, cause we finally got some good food from the MCU.

To start things off, I want to set a realistic expectation. This is not the greatest MCU film of all time, but if someone said this is the best entry since Endgame, I wouldn’t question it. Now personally, I think I liked GOTG Vol. 3 more just because it felt like such an excellent conclusion for that set of characters. However, we have lacked a good story that allows for building blocks towards a larger narrative for sometime now. Thunderbolts does the good things right taking fans back to the good ole days.

The highlight of this film is what it represents while simultaneously having the classic MCU feel. Imagine an Avengers like film with a Winter Soldier feel and it’s a story about mental health, rising above your internal battles, and ultimately finding hope beyond the pain. That’s really powerful in today’s culture and the struggles people face, myself included.

The chemistry of this team works really well for the most part. Yes, some of the dialogue can feel a little stale, but I’m not gonna nitpick because it’s necessary and effective when truly needed. Everyone does a really solid job in their roles and character arcs. People will complain about these characters not being popular or whatever type of narrative they want to bring. But you know why that doesn’t really matter? If you have a good story and good writing for self labeled “nobodies”, then you can turn anything and anyone into something and someone far beyond what’s expected. James Gunn did it with The Guardians, and I’d argue this is done here with The Thunderbolts as well.

This production crew was fantastic that pulled this film off. The cinematography was incredible and really felt more artistic if you will while still remaining true to the MCU, which is not a bad thing despite some of the super negative narratives out on the World Wide Web. This felt stylish, sleek, yet authentic. It’s just great with some of the camerawork, fight sequences, and lighting in certain scenes being crafted in such a unique way that I haven’t seen in a Marvel film before.

Every character had their shining moment of becoming more, being just pure awesome, and creating moments that really moved me emotionally. Narratively speaking the first half was fun, but there was a certain point in this film where everything kicked up and I was all in. I also had a very similar experience with GOTG Vol 3. during my first viewing. I am seeing this again Saturday evening, but overall very strong work and a good story.

The cherry on top of all of this is the post credit scene. It is very effective in setting up the future for what is to come and where the overall story is headed creating one of the best post credit scenes for the MCU. This is all I will say regarding that matter.

I know this is a lot, but if you made it this far, thank you. Second, I highly recommend this film and if you are a Marvel fan or reconsidering the MCU again, I’d strongly encourage you to give them another chance. I think this is the film that will give people hope for the future of the MCU to bring the majority of the audience back to truly enjoy what is coming in these next 3 films.

Thunderbolts* made me laugh, tear up, smile, and cheer bringing me back to what the MCU was like prior many years ago. This is a massive win for the MCU propelling towards the larger narrative as a whole that could really win fans back and create a pretty awesome next 2-3 years for Marvel fans. As of this moment, this is my favorite film on the year and I’m so amped. Let’s get the summer blockbuster party started!

P.S. Florence Pugh is a star, she really shined, just incredible as the lead performance. Also my cousin has a friend who worked in the costume department too so that’s pretty sweet.

This is where the fun begins. The last few weeks in the theater have been my favorite on the year, and we are just getting started. In the way that The Empire Strikes Back to our parents generation was, I would say is the same for gen z to Revenge of The Sith. This movie is riddled with dialogue issues, rushed writing, and subpar acting. But at the end of the day, none of this matters. The overall story, production quality, and climactic moments of this film are genuinely some of the greatest scenes in not only Star Wars history but cinematic history as a whole. The fight sequence on Mustafar is one of the best choreographed and epic scenes ever displayed on film. George Lucas as a visionary built arguably the best cinematic universe only for Mickey Mouse and his mafia to destroy it a decade later (excluding Rogue One, I’m confused how they cooked so hard). The one liners, the memes, and the overall emotions culminated over the last two decades have created one of the most timeless experiences for moviegoers like myself and Star Wars fans that changed the culture forever reaching cinematic heights we will never see again. These re releases are just incredible, and I can’t wait as the years by Lord willing that I can experience the classic 6 Star Wars films. Episode III and Episode VI have been crossed off the list. May the force be with you Letterboxd s.

So this was pretty phenomenal. If you wanna talk about aura? Mr. Darcy walking in to the ball and then walking in the field out of the fog, absolutely crazy. Lizzy standing on the cliff looking off into the distance with the piano, strings, and overall musical score going insane is just pure cinema. Hats off to Donald Sutherland and Judi Dench, their scenes were limited but they were in their bag. The dialogue is impeccable, the cinematography is elite, the piano layered musical numbers are incredible, and the storytelling is just so well done (yes, I know it’s based off a book). Mr. Collins was absolutely hilarious and a total clown. Overall, grateful again to AMC Fiesta Square 12 for a night well spent and an excellent first time viewing thanks to these re releases.

Overall, this was an effective film in telling the story of Jesus and a good reminder of who Jesus was, more than just a man or some prophet, but truly the savior of the world. It’s no Prince of Egypt, but the animation was solid despite the frame rate dropping at certain points. The voice cast in this was stacked so I’m curious how much cash was thrown at people like Oscar Isaac, Pierce Brosnan, and Mark Hamill. The donkey was extremely photo realistic and the one disciple was super fat, that just couldn’t have been biblically accurate. It’s also nice to see the average for this film above a 3 not being torn to pieces. This definitely can open the door to great conversations for kids and their parents about Jesus and what makes his sacrifice and gift so important. In the end, I enjoyed this and know that it will resonate well with the intended target audience.

The Amateur is the box office phantom that will become a streaming service hit in 2 months. From an overall film as a whole, it falls in what I would call “A Good A-List Film.” It’s not a film I necessarily think is great, but rather a night well spent at ole faithful and entertaining as a whole. The strengths of this film are Rami Malek, a solid production value on the visual and sound spectrum, and the Jason Bourne ish tone evoked. I do feel that there could have been some fat trimmed off on the runtime. Simultaneously, there could have been better story development for why certain plot points are happening while also helping create more tension for some of the films stronger moments. Also, some of the dialogue was not the best, but I’m not expecting to be moved by any means from the linguistics of a B tier action film I haven’t seen before. While The Amateur doesn’t reinvent anything in the action genre wheel, it does provide a solid premise with a sleek vibe that works well enough for my liking showcasing a solid protagonist in Rami Malek as Charlie Heller.

There are two categories that I believe war films can fall into. Those that entertain and those that enlighten. Warfare showcases the horrifying reality of what war is truly like holding absolutely nothing back. Watching this in IMAX really elevated the overall experience of just how intense these scenarios truly are despite the majority of people never being in these types of situations. I feel that this film does a lot more on showing rather than telling without the massive glamour and glorification of war in itself. I know that this film left me never wanting to be in these types of places while also making me more grateful for those who serve overseas to protect me and millions here back home. I definitely would never hope or pray for war to any capacity due to there never being any real victor once everything is over. This is probably the best film I’ve seen this year, but it’s probably a one time viewing for me. Overall, if you like war films and are looking for a much more real and raw type of storytelling, this is probably for you. PSA, this film is loud so I’m not sure if that was intentional or a mixing/ mastering error, but I felt like I was about to lose my hearing multiple times.

The claims are true. I do believe as of this moment this is the best animated trilogy in existence. This is such a fantastic conclusion to a wonderful world that I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if we saw more of in an animated medium. With the recent news of the live action adaptation being a success and a green lighted sequel, my love and appreciation for this universe is beginning to really grow. People claim this is the best animated trilogy which is ironic because the release date for Beyond The Spider-Verse was announced tonight as I was watching this. Dreamworks really created something special with this world and I completely understand why they chose to implement the Isle of Berk as its own individual land at Epic Universe opening this May. It’s been quite some time since watching this first entry in the series and it is just awesome. Dreamworks was in its bag making How To Train Your Dragon. The overall world building, the animation, the story/ lore, and the musical score are just wonderful. I never actually saw the second film in this series and I don’t necessarily the third film even though I saw it in theaters, but I’m excited to watch the next two entries. I am optimistic for the live action release in June due to a very similar crew as the OG and some similarities in the cast to generate a familiar yet more immersive experience for audiences. The animation holds up well, the story is simple yet effective, and the musical score was actually really good, something I hadn’t noticed before. In reality, Black Bag is probably more of a 3 star film, but I don’t find myself necessarily thinking about this much nor desiring a rewatch. This is very much a slow burn spy film, less show and more tell if that makes sense. If you like more dialogue driven films, you will probably fall on a more positive side of this film. Michael Fassbender and Cate Blanchett are good in the lead roles, but I never found myself truly drawn in to the narrative. There were some tense moments here and there, but everything felt rather flat to me. Soderbergh delivering The Ocean’s films prior to this feels so dissimilar to this entry from him. I know 2025 has some great films in store, but I haven’t found myself to be truly captivated yet this year in theaters. I hope this changes soon. It was pretty nice to see Dr. Fate from Black Adam. The “Black Bag” name drops felt reminiscent of the “Suicide Squad” name drop from Will Smith. I just realized I unintentionally made two references to rather shallow DC films. While I understand that there are some theological, philosophical, and political ideas this film was trying to talk about, it just didn’t resonate with me in a way that left me entertained nor perplexed. I felt some of the religious implementation was distasteful and I couldn’t take Mark Ruffalo serious, and yes I know who he was trying portray, but these elements just didn’t work for me. It’s entertaining enough and will make a lot of money with enough moments to satisfy my MCU cravings. What I wanna know is in the opening scene at the bar, who was Sam Wilson grabbing a drink with? Was it Bucky, Joaquin, STEVE, or maybe some unnamed individual? I thought it was hilarious how they had this scene and then never went back or addressed what happened. Considering the audiences did their job showing up well and this had the Red Hulk while trying to infuse two different worlds, those being Captain America’s and The Incredible Hulk’s, I’ll bump it up to a low 3. These next two MCU films have some ground to cover. Maybe more than some ground. Maybe some universes. It would be cool if there was a concept with multiple universes, just a thought.

There’s something to be said about the creation of Marvel in just how pivotal it has become in modern culture. As someone who grew up and still remains a comic book fan, this is a fun watch with not a lot of substance. The first hour is definitely the strongest in describing Stan’s early days and the unique approach he went for at Marvel. However, I feel that this documentary could have delved much deeper into the characters, it also jumped like 30 years at the end. I would say that this makes me appreciate The Fantastic Four even more realizing they were the counter to The Justice League. Spider-Man, Captain America, and The Hulk are Marvel at its finest. Seeing the Marvel & DC beef was crazy. The controversy between Stan and Steve was really interesting, not sure where I stand on the matter, but an intriguing conversation. Overall, I left wanting more and felt this could have been structured better narratively and given more substance to more characters and how Marvel translated itself across mediums of different films and media in the early 80’s to now. Stan Lee despite any sort of public opinion or criticism will always be one of my childhood heroes. However, Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko deserve their flowers in how integral of a role they played in Marvel’s original success. The end felt so rushed and kind of like a selfless promotion for the MCU. Welcome to 2025 where Harrison Ford is on a peloton while flying aboard Air Force One. Well, the MCU returns with a big year ahead. The question is, is the MCU back? Not really, but it’s not completely doomed (no pun intended). Let’s start with the positives. Anthony Mackie definitely does the best he can with this role and has been devoted to the role of Sam Wilson for years and is now taking the mantle of Captain America. The majority of audiences are having a difficult time adjusting to the vacancy of Steve Rogers, and understandably so. I think this film does a decent job of progressing his story, more than I expected, but the number one problem is that he has been in only 2 projects, including Brave New World, since Endgame. If you want to make Sam Wilson Captain America, which I am not against, you need to make him relevant and frequent in the MCU because Captain America is over the Avengers, and they are the bread and butter of Marvel. Harrison Ford has some depth added to his character making him more complex than what is shown in the trailers, and it is unfortunate that we didn’t see the late William Hurt in this role, but Ford did well for what he was given. Red Hulk was fun, but I wished the marketing hadn’t relied so much on him, but I understand why. I also enjoyed the overall tie in to The Incredible Hulk, yes the film from 17 years ago when I was 5. This being said, this film is MESSY. The writing felt all over the place with at least five different subplots occurring that felt like they tried to cram as much as possible in a sub 2 hour runtime. The dialogue was also not great. I know this film had reshoots and bad test screenings and you could tell. The VFX looked okay at best, but this is what happens when everything is rushed, reshot, and entirely void of practical effects. I also know Seth Rollins was initially in this film and replaced by Giancarlo Esposito, which was probably for the better, but as someone who watched the WWE with my dad growing up, I can’t help but wonder how he would have been. My favorite scene in this entire film has nothing to do with the action, but dialogue between two characters and I’ll leave this here. I thought about giving this film 3 stars, but I have to be honest about it. It will probably make a lot of money, which is good for Marvel, but we need to have better writers and really start progressing better towards the larger narrative in Avengers: Doomsday which is next Summer. I do think the next 2 MCU projects have great potential. Ross is right though, we do need the Avengers. The question is, can they return in the way we need them to?

Becoming Led Zeppelin 3511m 2025 - ★★★½ https://letterboxd.conexionsite.com/jacob_ragsdale/film/becoming-led-zeppelin/ letterboxd-review-803897911 Sun, 9 Feb 2025 10:42:11 +1300 2025-02-08 No Becoming Led Zeppelin 2025 3.5 857800 <![CDATA[

Well, this is not the first theater experience I anticipated for 2025, but it definitely was not a bad one. As a disclaimer, I am not a Led Zeppelin fan and knew very little about them. This being said, this was a fairly well made documentary. I’ve learned over the last couple years that I’ve grown fond of documentaries, especially if the source material really interests me. While I wasn’t necessarily drawing to this, the IMAX format and overall popularity of Led Zeppelin had me intrigued. I think for the most part it was structured fairly well. The second half of this is where I was really drawn in. To me it’s truly crazy how the culture around music has changed so much from decade to decade. The fact people just sat down at a concert is just so strange to me. The 60’s soaked aesthetic really added some fun flavor to this documentary due to the initial source material. If you are a fan of classic rock or Led Zeppelin, I definitely recommend this.

Wow, DC is really good being great and awful. Let’s come back to this list next July when James Gunn brings in absolute PEAK cinema. Also, I’m going to exclude animated DC films because in reality those are actually far better than most live action projects DC has done.

 1. The Batman
 2. The Dark Knight
 3. Batman Begins
 4. Zack Snyder's Justice League
 5. Wonder Woman
 6. The Dark Knight Rises
 7. Joker
 8. The Suicide Squad
