It will always be impressive that a franchise's sixth film turned out to not only be the best in the series, but legitimately one of the best action movies of the century so far, if not all time. The point is, the Reckonings had a lot to live up to and I'm nowhere near mad that they offer somewhat diminishing returns after such a high peak. They're still a lot of fun and have tons of impressive action in them.…
So Marvel didn't actually forget how to make a good movie, huh? It's definitely faint praise to say this is the best MCU theatrical release in about 5 years, but it is. And it was mostly a pretty good time that seemed unladen by the baggage of so many recent MCU entries. I mean, it's not like there wasn't table setting for future installments and some knowledge of previous lore needed, but at least it seemed more organic here and less in the way of actual compelling thematic storytelling.
