We need more ~60 minute animated films if it's going to produce more masterpieces like this. The sound design is probably the most underrated aspect of this, there was a heavier pencil stroke sound made in reaction to some dialogue early on and I got even more locked in.
I'm only sorry that I let this one by in theaters.
A surprising level of messiness in its first hour or so of exposition which I can accept because this is the culmination of the series and bringing in threads from past entries you never knew would become relevant.
Happy to say that somehow, ONCE AGAIN, the stunts in this leapfrog what came before. Incredible thrills, a lovely cameo by Tramell Tillman I only wish we got more of, and a sendoff with a ton of heart. I'm more than satisfied. Tom Cruise did it again, one last time.
Hackjob editing and some really clunky writing mar what is otherwise a surprisingly decent plot, especially considering how far the MCU has fallen. A few nice character moments and a logical setup for what is to come. There is a much better movie hiding here, and it is really frustraing that all hundreds of millions of dollars can do is fuck up any chance of it being seen.
I think there's some recovery from this, but none of those clueless executives deserve it. I'm just glad I don't feel like my time was completely wasted.
What I was able to hear of this movie was great, however my friends and I were subjected to initially periodic but then near-constant shouting by a more-than-likely mentally disabled Sonic fan in his 30s. But if that wasn't enough, there was a different guy in the audience who eventually decided to keep goading him to keep shouting by repeating what he said. It was miserable and it took everything in my power to not leave the theater or report…
