kara explaining onecest mid movie and fin singing all the words heightened the home cinema experience.
also character design on the old snail was immaculate, loved it from the start.

beautiful scenery as always but a lot of the time just asking myself asking what the point is? symbolism i’m sure but lots of loose ends compared to other ghibli movies

impeccable even on a second watch. pick up on so many small details that the director and crew put in (the shock absorbers on the rackets! the way they throw their towels differently! how tashi’s injury was the only match to not have the typical side to side audience view - we were looking straight down on her when she lost). UGH!!! cinema crowd audibly gasping or laughing made the experience 10x better. soundtrack still makes my coochie dance

overwhelming enamoured with the city lights, the soft snow, the warm spark of a lighter, the hazy fog of cigarettes. every frame is a visual masterpiece.

it moves slowly like honey and there is minimal dialogue. it’s not for everyone but i adore it. Shu Qi might be the most beautiful woman to exist.
