Waaaaay too long to get to Kong. An hour in, my 11-year-old son double checked the slip case, thinking that, instead of Jackson’s rollicking magnum ape-us, I had mistakenly grabbed some schmaltzy period piece about a struggling actress making her way in Depression-era New York. But once the film finally kicks into gear, it’s still a good time.
