The Brutalist

2024

★★★★½ Liked Watched

Felt like two movies stitched together, with the first half being stronger. Incredible cinematography, great performances, and a score that s and at times overtakes the momentum of the film. While the overarching theme of artist vs patron, or creation vs capitalism is there and done fine. I do think there are so many aspects that the film quickly mentions, only to sideline or not deem important. Themes of immigration, assimilation, power dynamics both physically and mentally. The Batman

2022

★★★★ Liked Watched

The Batman is an interesting amalgamation of different versions of the batman story. Onward tells of a journey filled with magic and moving forward but does not sur the greats of Pixar. As usual, the animation is stellar with hyper-realistic moments but also fantasy elements blending seamlessly. You may argue that the Pixar animation style is stale, but the quality is never an issue. Both Tom Holland and Chris Pratt have brilliant chemistry giving believable and heartfelt performances as brothers. Both play characters who similar to their past roles, with Tom Holland playing…

Snowpiercer

2013

★★★★½ Liked Rewatched

For a more thorough review, check out my first one of Snowpiercer. On second viewing, Snowpiercer shows how Bong Joon-Ho carefully crafts his films. Throughout the film, you see how he is setting up events without forcing unnatural dialogue. I also did not realize how many details I had forgotten from the first watch, and that's what makes this viewing entertaining. This viewing enforced the idea that Snowpiercer is a fantastic film and a recommendation for you.
