Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning

Really felt the poor writing this time around, but still had a lot of fun. The plane scene is genuinely one of the most mind-bending things I’ve ever seen in a movie and it blows my mind thinking about trying to orchestrate it, let alone getting a 60 year old Tom Cruise in a position to navigate it.

Also, you know the part where they talked about what American city to nuke as a sacrifice? The guy next to me immediately said “finally, a perfect time to get rid of Cincinnati” lol

Listen. Friends were watching this and I caught the last 25 min or so.

Still ones of the best comedies and most formative movies for me of all time!!

Lily-Rose Depp is the absolute truth.

And I wasn’t surprised by it, but this movie just looked so damn cool. That shot of Hoult’s character at the crossroads before hopping in the carriage was so beautiful I almost cried.

We saw this at 10:35 PM on Christmas night and about 2/3 of the way through, a baby in the theater started crying. My friend Justin said “that’s a cool ass baby” and I agree — I wish this had been my first movie too

Getting my small complaint out of the way first… feel like this should’ve been a little shorter. A number of scenes tip toe the line between lasting too long and being funny because of how long they’ve continued. Mileage may vary, etc

But my god, man. Mikey Madison is extraordinary. She and Sean Baker are a match made in cinematic heaven.

Sean continues his streak of being able to depict America in a way that no other filmmaker is able…
