David Cronenberg's list of 37 favorite films

David Cronenberg is the filmmaker of the month on LaCinetek!

Like his filmography (Videodrome, Dead Ringers, A History of Violence…), his list begins with horror and fear through an inventory of his favorite films, before expanding to include a few masterpieces, often marked by dark realism, from some of the greatest filmmakers in cinema.
To paraphrase William S. Burroughs, whose work runs through Cronenberg's, the whole selection reveals a strong taste for cinema that "rushes at us, crushes us with its leopard-man claws, tearing off fingers and toes like one does to opportunistic crabs."
