After starting his career on the radio as a host and comedian, Alain Chabat ed Canal+ in 1984, where he formed the comedy group Les Nuls with Bruno Carette, Chantal Lauby, and Dominique Farrugia. The quartet created Le JTN, a satirical fake news program that left a lasting mark on the channel. In 1994, they filmed the now-iconic Fear City: A Family-Style Comedy, directed by Alain Berbérian. Chabat then began a solo acting career, appearing in films like French Twist by Josiane Balasko and The Taste of Others by Agnès Jaoui. In 1997, he directed Didier, in which he played a dog turned into a human, earning him the César for Best First Film. His adaptation of Asterix & Obelix: Mission Cleopatra was a massive success both with audiences and critics. He now alternates between directing and producing while continuing his acting career, notably in Reality by Quentin Dupieux in 2015.
