The Final Destination

In contention for one of the worst movies I've ever seen. At times, it feels like it wasn't even written by humans, because some of those dialogues and those deliveries make me think that this was made by a room full of monkeys that somehow by pure chance typed out the script. Every single possible decision is the wrong one, starting with the fact that most of the characters barely know each other, so half of the kills just happen…

Final Destination 3

It might be my least favourite, but it's only a matter of margins, really. It adds the element of pictures that is kind of quirky, which makes the guessing before the kills more entertaining, but it also dumbs down the already dumb cast of characters, making them even more like cardboard cutout unlikeable teens that you kinda want to see dead before the end of the movie. My guess is that this is where the fatigue sets in, and I have zero hopes that the next movie is going to be even watchable, let alone entertaining.

Surprised by how much I liked this. It keeps getting better and better the further it goes. A great mixture of noir influences with the cynic conspiracy thriller so typical for the 90s. Might even rewatch it later this year with even more focus.

A pretty good take on idealistic yakuza struggling to live in the changing times. While most of these stories center around the pre-post-WWII transition, this one is about the change from Taisho to Showa era, and the growing relationship between crime syndicates and right-wing political parties. Nakadai is amazing in this one. The way he expresses emotion with his eyes is almost unparalleled.
