I loved this adaptation because we got to see this relationship through a brown lens. Emma being played by a south Asian actress is a stroke of genius imo. This friends to lovers narrative gets an interesting subtext - you’re not necessarily asking WHY he doesn’t love her and overlooks her for other women…because you kinda know why.

Without having any overt discussions on race - it perfectly describes more the unsaid lived experiences of brown girls on hinge lol
