Daniel’s review published on Letterboxd:
not sure why everyone shit on this so much - it was actually pretty great! although definitely frequently risible and overly dramatic and up it's own ass and self indulgent, I couldn't help but be simultaneously charmed and amused by the spectacle.
I might prefer Southland tales when it comes to a wildly ambitious moonshot from an auteur director, but this is more coherent and less unhinged.
makes sense that Ron Fricke was credited with "special cinematography" here—given it all looked amazing and that Coppola produced the koyannisqatsi movies (and maybe baraka and samsara too, I forget).
seeing this makes me think I should give Tenet a try.
