The amount I appreciated this film skyrocketed after Wandering Earth 2 gives it so much more context and weight. Still not fully sure why this one has a broadly more negative reputation, even among Anderson (and co.) fans. Such delightfully dorky, extremely carpenter-inspired, Apocalypse City Escape fare with some beloved iconography to boot. A bunch of adorable characters accompany Alice through her setpiece gauntlet. It's unfussy and unbloated in it's thrills and I just really love the look and feel of it!
