Fun, silly and darkly humorous.
The individual pieces are all in place for something special. The performances are great, the concept is interesting, and there are some one-liners of all time in the script, but there's ultimately an ingredient missing somewhere that I can't quite put my finger on that keeps it from reaching greatness.
Maybe it's just the shallowness of the characters (which is kinda the whole point) and the lacklustre ending that made it feel too subdued for…

Weirdly wonderful, with great performances from the whole cast. It's got really gorgeous visuals, unique and interesting cinematography and an eerie soundtrack that fits it perfectly. The plot is simple, but immensely entertaining.
Enjoyed it very much.

Makes me wanna go back and re-evaluate Killing of a Sacred Deer and The Favourite as I think after this and The Lobster, I'm starting to vibe more with Yorgos' style and dark humour.

I'm all the way in with Cage's renaissance these past few years man. He's been delivering some absolute banger performances that just entrance and enchant me with their simplistic, raw energy. I will follow this man to his fucking pyramid grave, I swear. Whoever says this is some kind of deconstruction of John Wick and the revenge movie is lying to you though - this is straight-up Nicolas Cage's Ratatouille.
Also, can someone please explain to me what the fuck a truffle is and why they're so expensive? Are they like a kind of super mushroom or something?
