I am taking all future meetings on miniature trains. Then, I'll enjoy a glass of cold milk on the upper Skagit River while scrolling on Instagram: LOVE <swipe> MOTHER <swipe> FATHER <swipe> ME <swipe> HOME <swipe> COUNTRY <swipe> GOD <swipe> ENEMY <swipe> HAPPINESS <swipe>

A real middle-of-the-road prospector-core flick. Having now seen four of the five Mann/Stewart ts, I can tick the "been there done that" box and consider never seeing the fifth.

I don't have much profound to say about this, likely because I felt the film lacked much profundity. As far as palace intrigue/political dramas go, which I can totally fuck with, this mostly works. Occasionally, a shot really surprises or delights and reminds you you're not just watching an HBO series and I wanted more of those. It's a movie, have some fun!

Well, they can't all be winners. This one put me right back in my "maybe Westerns aren't for me" mood of yore. I tried but couldn't really find anything compelling about these supposedly conflicted characters. And dear god the blaring score, which mostly consists of "Beautiful Dreamer" variations was really awful. Fun final scene and an extra half-star for the delightful donk.
