*note to my 11 Letterboxd friends. This is an inside joke and I have feelings about this movie I’ll keep to myself for now to protect my brother 🔧 but it’s a great movie.
I’m not sure what people expected from a live action retelling of a classic, but this was just fine. Odd choices for sure but my daughter had a blast so I did too. (Yes, cgi instead of hiring real actors to play the seven dwarfs is disgusting…As is the blatant use of background actors being used as principal roles and most likely not being paid for them. Also, obviously, I see the issues with the evil queen people in the theater actually laughed when she said nooooo. )
No. I tried. I watched the whole thing then needed a shower. So we’re just making movies “based” on real life rape victims who are still alive? I feel tricked into retraumatizing an entire family and child rape victim. I get that it’s art, but ultimately this type of filmmaking is a business. The choice to make this movie is the whole ick. I’m sure the victim wasn’t asked and isn’t seeing a dime from this, so the spotlight being…
