Movies I recognized as witty and are technically funny, but did not make me laugh because their style and sense of humor was on a different wavelength than mine

I hate it when people describe things as unfunny just because it didn’t make them laugh. Humor is both one of the most subjective experiences in existence and one of the few things capable of producing joy, so bashing comedy simply for being unable to make you laugh is a bit small-minded and petty. Obviously there are more concrete and objective critiques that can be made of comedy, like when it punches down or is simply lazy and derivative, and those may factor into a valid evaluation of a comedy’s quality, but at the end of the day, if a comedy simply isn’t your cup of tea, don’t elevate your sense of humor above everyone else’s by claiming it must be bad, just say you didn’t enjoy it.
