Hard to get invested in these “I’m homeless but I’m not like “those” homeless” storylines when Devon has a real issue with this but as expected, as someone who grew up on the North Devon section of the Salt Path (howling at the visitor centre being at the top of the Clovelly steps gag more than any other comedy this year) it’s more about seeing locations from my childhood than the actual characters/plot. Affording housing in the area was impossible before, it’ll be all snapped up by second homers after this.

Well, that was something special. I'm really glad that I watched The Umbrellas of Cherbourg the day before because there are clear influences from that masterpiece on Damien Chazelle. Together these two movies have made me far more invested in musicals than I was previously, with Bugsy Malone being another highlight but beyond that the list starts to get a bit thinner.
