James Spader in an erotic thriller

I held off on watching this out of fear that it would try and turn Dylan into a soft boy hero (unfortunately I'm a long suffering fan of the guy's music). pleasantly surprised with this flic though! Chalamet pulls out a remarkably decent performance and really leans into the paranoid / poser aspect of Dylan's character. aaand he even does an okay job of singing.
this feels like such a huge improvement on We're All Going to the World's Fair. thematically similar but tonally worlds apart, this movie is so much more playful, funny, and ultimately crushing than its predecessor. plus this had a way better score (still alex g but with some fun guests...). very refreshing to see someone try new ideas out, I don't know if it all worked but I'm so grateful that Schoenbrun and co. had the heart and guts to give it a shot
