Oh my gosh!! I am only 28 minutes into this, and it’s already one of the best stand-up comedy specials I’ve ever seen!!

It feels wholesome, it feels real, it feels cozy, it feels safe, and yet, it feels relatable and so much fun!! This makes me feel like I’m a kid again, because these are the kind of women that I on TV growing up. She reminds me of a new Brett Butler!

Leanne Morgan is really not the kind of woman we see much these days, but we used to see quite often, way back when. And I miss people like her in the public sphere. I honestly thought they didn’t exist anymore!

She feels all at once like a blast from the past and like a breath of fresh air!

I love it, love it, love it– and love her! And if I may be a little bit more of a TV geek right now, I will say that she looks like the voice of Betty Rubble of “The Flintstones“– Bea Benaderet!

Old-school beauty coupled with old-school charm, plus she made me laugh myself, silly!! Leanne Morgan is the whole package! A+ plus plus!!

Enjoyable, but it felt less like a documentary on the life of Elizabeth Montgomery, and more like a Bewitched television chronology special. But since I love sitcoms from the 1950s through 1980s, especially, then it was still entertaining to me. But it could’ve definitely been better.

On the plus side, though, this time, the talking heads were actually nice to listen to. In other biographies, like the Joan Jett one, I really got annoyed with the talking heads – i.e., the people that just come on there to sing the praises of a person. But this time, the people just made it more entertaining, so that was cool.

Its subject felt a little egotistical at times, but he felt very relatable as well. This documentary felt so intimate, so joyful, so true, the way a documentary is supposed to feel! It really did feel like Paul Rubens let us into his life. And the way he presented it, despite the little troubles, he had here and there, it was definitely a life I would love to live – a life well lived!

I’ve praised other celebrity documentaries before, but this one might just be my favorite!

Rest in peace to the man that was Pee-wee Herman to the world! 

I’m at a loss for words to describe how special he was as an entertainer, and the world he created. I literally wish to live in Pee-wee‘s world! Both his world in the first and last Pee-wee Herman movies, and the world of Pee-wee‘s Playhouse – it’s just so ideal, so majestic, so enchanting! And in some small way, Paul Rubens thereby, is enchanting too!

For being such a Joan Jett lover, it might surprise people to know that rock ‘n’ roll is really not my thing. I’m much more classical music, crooners, that sort of thing. But, every once in a while, a song or a person will come along, that make me really love it at that moment.

This movie grew on me, and by the end I felt like I really liked it. 

Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers stole the show! Oh my gosh, never a false note!

This movie played like an amateur school production, a lot of the time. But other parts felt like a genuine 1950s sitcom episode. It was that element, that sitcom feel, that I appreciated. Though, this is much less sophisticated than we tend to think of the 1950s. But it did have a cuteness about it that we tend to associate with the era as well.

It’s a mixed bag, but not bad!
And if you ARE a fan of early rock ‘n’ roll, you might just find that you love it!

Julia Sweeney is so lovable, oh my gosh!!
She’s that old-fashioned girl that is so hard to come by, the type you want to take home to your parents, kitten on the streets, tiger in the sheets, kind of girl.

She’s the kind of girl that seems innocent on the outside, but has a lot going on on the inside. A superb sense of humor and way of thinking.

I don’t agree with all of her stances, like her atheism. But by the end of this, I think even she was starting to question her atheism, starting to come back into alignment with God.

She is funny without being too mean, she’s funny without being too crude, she’s warm without being saccharine, she’s safe without being uptight… and did I say she’s cute?!

In short, Julia Sweeney is wifey material!

Officially one of my favorite comedians now!
And fittingly, she was close friends with the lake, great Jill Sobule – who was my first ever favorite singer, songwriter type musician. I love the stage production. They did together, “the Jill and Julia show“ – very low-key, just a kind of off the cuff easy-going show. And that vibe sort of encapsulates what you get here with this stand-up special.

I am such a fan of Julia Sweeney!

For all those people who complain about Joan Jett’s manager, Kenny Laguna – I’ve got news for you – if you want to see what Joan’s fate probably would’ve been, if she hadn’t met Kenny, watch this documentary! There are so many clues in this documentary, so many synchronicity between Joan and the lead singer of Betty Blowtorch, Bianca, that if you are at all in tuned with how messages from the universe work, you will know that this would’ve been Joan’s fate.

Anyone who has problem with her manager, get your head out of your behind and wake up! Kenny saved Joan from this fate. Am I saying that she couldn’t have survived musically without Kenny? No, that’s not what I’m saying. I’m saying that she wouldn’t have survived. She could have, but she wouldn’t, because of the environment. Because of the people she was hanging out with. She needed somebody like Kenny in her life, as a grounding force.

The only way Joan Jett would’ve survived without Kenny Laguna is if she had left the music business altogether and ed the military, like she was going to do before she met him. But God saved her and brought Kenny into her life. Thank you, Kenny Laguna, for taking such good care of Joan – for always making sure she had a driver before she got her license, for always making sure she had a bodyguard, for making sure that her fate could be realized as the queen of rock ‘n’ roll, and not as another rock casualty.

Also, the level of backstabbing that went on in this band, both in the pre-Betty Blowtorch stage, and in the full-blown stage of Betty Blowtorch, just goes to show how difficult it is to find someone you can really trust when the chips are down. So why in the world would Joan ever want to do anything without Kenny Laguna?! Give me a break!!

And to the two bandmates that put Bianca on the spot, by abandoning her sometime during this, I saw through you right from the beginning!! I do wish you peace, but also, screw you!! What crappy behavior! And you had crappy behavior before that, too, in the band that led to Betty Blowtorch! My sympathies were totally with Thom the whole time, and then it turns out, I was right – because you turned around and acted like jerks again, this time to Bianca! 

God bless you, Kenny Laguna, rest in peace Bianca, and I love you, Joan Marie (more than anything)!

Same old story…

This was a nice documentary, but I do think that it over emphasizes the importance of the band. It feels like a big ego stroke.

Nice to see Joan Jett's lighting girl, Annie Stoic, make an appearance.

I'm sorry for what Jean went through. By the end, I was bawling my eyes out!

Anyway, not bad. But not my favorite. It's really a bummer, how many bandmates cause rift in the end, don't stay, loyal, end up, not on speaking , all that crap. This one wasn't as bad as many, but still it could've been better.

Also, I don’t like how documentaries like these are being made to try to topple Joan Jett in a way. The Go-Go’s made a documentary just to say that they didn’t have “Svengali” like Joan Jett band did. And then this one turns around, and says that without them, there would be no Runaways! When the truth is, I don’t even think Joan even listened to Fanny or knew who they were. So can we please stop trying to screw Joan over inadvertently?! I don’t think that’s cool.

That being said, I respect the desire to set the record straight on your own history, to want accolades or recognition. But like Joan says, it’s not about you, and it’s not about her. It’s about the history. And you’ve already made it into the rock ‘n’ roll history books. That’s what really matters.

Statistically, movies like these are underrated!

Yeah, the story was great and all that, but let’s talk about the music! The music was right up there with the great music from all my favorite romance, movies of similar ilk, “Room in Rome“ (2010) comes to mind.

The song choice for the dance scene, “video killed the radio star“ was next level perfect!

I wasn’t a fan of some of them more serious themes in the movie, but I suppose it did make everything more meaningful. And minus some of that, this movie is exactly the kind of thing I would like to experience. It was a kind of camaraderie that was palpable between the two lead characters. A kind of natural ebb and flow between the two lead characters that, in itself, was exhilarating, exuberant, and thrilling! This movie may not outwardly be in an action/adventure, but the love itself, that kind of feeling that destiny has you on a grand chase for that one special person, what great adventure can there be?!

So, as I watched this, I couldn’t help but think of my own life, and question how many times, if ever, I came close to feeling the way these characters feel in the movie. We should all be so blessed! It does give us something to strive for and look forward to, if it hasn’t happened yet. It could happen to you. It could happen to me! It’s the thrill of knowing that the universe is conspiring to bring you to your perfect person, so that the rest of your life can unfold in the most ideal way!

And of course, I don’t know the statistics of this, but I’m sure that with every good romcom, the world is made just a little bit nicer!

Bonus points for the actress from “the good place“ looking like an Indian Haley Mills, and adding a touch of “it’s a wonderful life” angel vibes to this!

Seven sisters named after Greek goddesses, in a movie that feels like a live action , Disneyfairytale!

This is one of my favorite musicals now, even though it’s less about the music and more about the quirkiness.

I had the perfect comparison of who Jane Powell‘s character reminds me of, but I suddenly forgotten it. I guess you can compare her in a slight way to Frankie, from the show “Grace and Frankie“. She’s one of those manic pixie Dreamgirls, but one that sticks around. I love stuff like that!

This movie is like a Disney cartoon brought to life. It’s very much like a live action, fairytale, except instead of the CGI special effects of live action adaptations of fairytales that we’ve gotten used to nowadays, it’s all handmade sets. 

I myself saying that I wish I could live with her sisters and grandparents! Even to be her would be great. I am one of those types that believes in a higher power and signs. I do have people around me who try to tell me that I’m seeing something that’s not there sometimes, or that I’m Just seeing what I want to see, but to me, the signs are there for a reason. We are meant to notice them, and we are not meant to dismiss them as mirror, coincidence or something that happened for another reason. Even if we can draw a line between one sign to the reason for that sign, it still doesn’t explain why that reason itself popped up to make the sign happen. The matter fact that the sign happened is the point. What made the sign happened doesn’t matter, it’s the fact that it happened, which proves that there’s a higher power at work, guiding us, and showing us that great things are meant for us. 

This is one of those movies that, while maybe mildly frustrating at times, is also very inspiring in certain ways. I personally rather loved it!

And, as is typical for a movie that ends up being one of my favorites, the architecture in this film is grand! Yes, I know that much of this movie if not, all of it is filmed on a sound stage. I might be weird for this, but I prefer the sound stage version of nature to actual nature itself. Because I know that if I were on that sound stage, I would be getting everything I love about the outdoors, such as a breeze brought on by a fan, beautiful trees, and plants, even if they are synthetic, and none of the bugs, bites, and danger that we would get outdoors. People always describe nature as simply healing, and that nothing can hurt you in the natural world, that only man-made things are harmful. But I beg to differ. If it weren’t for man-made things, like the four walls of our room in our house, we could be eaten by bears! And I’ll leave it at that.

On another note, the cast is superb! The grandparents are great, and so are the male suitors. I was particularly impressed with Vic Damone who has a voice justice gorgeous as Jane Powell’s. Debbie Reynolds was also a treat as the lovable sister of Jane. But this is definitely a Jane Powell star vehicle, which is impressive in itself, given what stars the others were as well, which just proves how much audience has loved Jane back then. And this movie does a great job of showing why.

The first thing I loved about this movie is the house that Cybill Shepherd’s character lives in! Wow! What a house!!

Beyond that, the sparring was a little irritating at times, but ultimately, they do make a great couple. And this could definitely be classified as action/adventure, as much of the thrills depend on action. But this is the kind of action that is elegant. It’s not too macho for the female audience. This is the kind of show that would please both men and women almost equally, if not equally.

Well, now that I’ve seen the pilot episode, I’ll check out the show! Recommended for fans of the detective genre.

Take “Miss Marple…”, cross it with “Strangers on a Train”, and throw in a little bit of “Thelma and Louise”, and you have this movie!

Unless you’re a big fan of the TV show “Murder, She Wrote“ – you might be put off by a feature length episode of the program. However, it plays surprisingly well as a movie on its own, so that even people who don’t get into the TV show might enjoy it.

I Enjoyed this very, very much! It makes me want to watch more Angela Lansbury movies now, and I think I will very soon!

No one could’ve played JB Fletcher as well as Angela Lansbury! She’s so charming. And I know she did much more than that character, but when you watch it, you feel like she is the character. The part fits her like a glove. It makes this movie So nice to watch, because she always infused the character with her signature warmth that is so palpable through the screen!

To make this even better, Joan Jett birth numbers appeared in a key scene in the movie, because JB Fletcher checked into a hotel at exactly 9:58 AM and Joan was born 9/58! Always love anything that reminds me of her too!

This movie gets at least four stars from me!

Beware:
Not exactly the silly, feel-good fest it’s d as. I kinda liked it, but it’s another of those that left me feeling a bit betrayed by how surprisingly heavy it ultimately is.

Along with the original “Teen Beach Movie” (2013), this is MY “Grease” (1978)!

The mix of movie nerd enthusiasm with old-school references to the fun and innocence of early 1960s beach musicals, along with a dash of magic and romanticism, make this right up my alley, as my girl Joan Jett might say!

My only major gripes with these lovely tributes to a sub-genre of American cinema that so beautifully reflects a certain time and place in cinema history, is that the hair-dos and costumes could have been and should have been FAR MORE period-appropriate! It’s Disney- goodness knows they’ve got the money for it! The guys could basically , but the girls of the 1960s movie world as portrayed in this film seemed like they were coming from the late 1960s- which was a very different look than 1962- when the fantasy movie was meant to have taken place! And the movie within this movie did not need changing! That’s like going back and changing the original 1963 “Beach Party” movie. It’s just not right!

Other than that though, I love these movies! They aren’t perfect to me, but they are great!

Other than one bloody scene that is VERY unfit for a romcom (wow, we really love gross-out scenes in 21st century cinema, apparently!), this was very good, as far as keeping the viewer engaged and being well made. But personally, I found the ending to be a big betrayal!

Good movie, but the story did not live up to its potential and seemed to be an insult to romantic idealism.

Still liked it though.

What I loved, however, was that Netflix has a well-done English dub of this Spanish movie, which was great for someone like me, who has trouble following subtitles. I wish all foreign language films had great dubs like this, so that we could all enjoy movies from another country as well as we enjoy those of our own language and country!

Good job, Netflix! Now do Iranian and other movies the same way!

Could’ve done without a couple of gross, grisly lines that are unfit for a movie of this type, but otherwise, good film with a bit of a shock factor, but satisfying finish (finally finished it for I think the first time).

Glad I decided to revisit this/give it another chance.

Not only the best Christmas special I’ve ever seen- but the best TV special I’ve ever seen in general- with enough show-tunes mixed in with the Yule tide classics to make this perfect for any other time of the year too!

I’ve loved this since I was a child, and even after all these years, it hasn’t lost its luster! It’s the warmest, coziest, most real and unscripted piece of scripted TV I can imagine, and that’s due to its complete lack of sarcasm, cynicism, or any of the modern sensibilities that we tend toward nowadays (see: Sabrina Carpenter’s Christmas Special).

Judy Garland is an ideal hostess, and she really makes the viewer feel at home. Her honesty and lack of a need to appear perfect makes this all the more perfect, as the slight line slip ups only add to the integrity and appeal of this fabulous program! Some people here have questioned why they didn’t do more takes and concluded that Judy just couldn’t be bothered. But perhaps it was more that, like me, she saw the value in letting the spontaneous quality of them remain- which was actually a hallmark of her entire TV series, not just this particular special.

Her kids are good too- and unlike what some other reviewers have said, I think her son was adorable throughout this, and he did his song justice! Sure, his voice may have struggled and he’s not a belter like his mamma- but that made it even more genuine and precious, cause like the Oliver of the song he was singing, he was just a true little boy, singing a song from the heart to impress his mom, and she sure was! It was touching to see.

Also of note is the set. The designer and set decorator deserve awards for this! I want to jump into the TV and live there!

This is so great! And Judy has never been better or more beautiful!

I am having a Mandela effect moment with this movie! I swear I seeing previews of it where the setting was a house with a grand staircase and chandelier- and not a couple of apartments! I also the plot line being Charles Boyer’s character asking Rock Hudson’s character to help his daughter, Leslie Caron, have a baby- and she negotiated the with Rock. So the baby storyline was the main thing in the movie. But that’s not the case here! I also Leslie wearing a pretty baby pink suit with a matching pillbox hat in one of the key scenes. But with only ten minutes left of the film as I am typing this, that hasn’t happened either! Yet, I see it clear as day in my mind’s eye!

This is so strange! What in the world s for my memories with this cast- this exact same cast, same title, but different main plot?! I am flabbergasted!!

On another note though, I don’t think I have ever been so charmed by Leslie Caron before! Since seeing her again recently in her small role in “Last of the Blonde Bombshells” (2000), I have become quite enamored with her! I think it’s seeing her older that really did it for me. While she is best known for her ingenue roles of the 1950s, she’s one of those that actually got better with age, come to find out! She’s giving me French Isabella Rossellini vibes. That is to say, she is my type! Love a woman with old-world sophistication, a beautiful voice and accent, and sweet eyes. Hers sparkle with a sprightly quality!

Anyway, this is a pretty standard sex comedy of the early to mid-1960s- which means it’s a safe bet of a good time! Recommended!

The most earnest aspect of this movie is the closing credits and the beautiful piece of instrumental music that plays over them. The rest of the film feels like one big SNL skit- complete with a prominent member of the SNL family, to boot!

There are picturesque houses and period-appropriate clothing that is lovely to behold. But those are the only things- save for bits of Emily’s actual writing worked into the script- that are period-appropriate. One gets the distinct feeling of watching people play pretend when watching this. I never once felt like I was transported back in time to witness Emily’s actual life. There is far too much tongue-in-cheek irreverence for this to be taken very seriously, but maybe that’s the point.

Having said all of the above, I do feel as though I know Emily at least a little now, after having watched this. And even though the cast failed to conceal the fact that they are 21st century people playing dress-up, I understand that may have just been an artistic choice (even if I would have preferred it otherwise).

All in all, not a genuine period-picture- a fact which may annoy some like myself who has a fondness for them- but still a kind of fun look at one of American history’s most esteemed woman writers.

Bonus points for some very sexy kissing between Emily and Susan in this! It definitely turned me on, if I may say so! So that’s one aspect of the movie that does satisfy quite nicely.

I woke up with a horrible migraine today, so after playing the 1935 version of “Enchanted April” for the first time (which I mainly just listened to with my eyes covered for the sake of soothing dark), I put this on, as it’s a good old standby for me. Over the years, this has been a movie I instinctively turn to, when I need comfort. This movie, for whatever reason, just puts me at peace.

It helps that it feels like paradise! The setting, the music, the romantic ion, and last but not least, Jean Seberg’s presence- just put me “in the zone” to where I feel very zen when this film is playing- whether I’m watching or just listening to it. And Jean Seberg’s voice is music to the ears too!

I’ve watched/played this more times than I’ve logged, because I ed this site rather late, but trust me when I say that back in 2016 and 2017, I had a playlist of movies that I streamed daily/nightly, and this was one of them! So it is among the movies I have played the most. I adore it. It has very deep meaning for me that I won’t get into right now, but it’s very special for various reasons.

Hard to understand why this movie seems to be so unknown and/or unloved by most people, but it is truly one of my favorite comfort films of all time!

I’m on a gentle British movie kick, and this one was remade in the 1990s with Dame Joan Plowright, so I thought I’d check the original out.

I must say, British films of the 1990s and after though, they can’t be beat- everything from the costumes, photography, settings, score, and of course, the dames- are perfect!

The first time I saw this, I didn’t care for it. But this time, I came away with a huge crush on Judi Dench! Oh, what a woman! So adorable and alive!!

Perhaps this lovely bit of dialogue between Judi Dench’s character and her granddaughter sums it up best:

Judi: Joanna, I need your advice…

Joanna: I’ll try.

Judi: What’s the best way to show respect for the dead?

Joanna: That’s easy; you go on living.

As someone who loves glamour, Love, sensuality, all of those things – and Particularly in the Dynasty fashion, I am interested in Jackie Collins, and her work. Being the sister of Joan Collins is what brought her to my attention, and now Jackie Collins, herself is enough to get my attention, just on her own.

Her breadth of work is very impressive! And I love how every story she wrote has the key elements of erotic enjoyment paired with sophisticated glamour. What could be better?!

She seem to have lived a happy life for the most part. I will it that I cried at the end, though. It’s very interesting how some people‘s lives tend to be touched by a certain condition multiple times. And such was the case with Jackie, having at least three people in her immediate life, ed away of the same basic condition that she ed away from. It’s scary, but she was strong till the end.

I will say that this documentary movie made me think of my girl, Joan Jett, too, because Jackie’s sister’s name is Joan, Jackie has a character that she frequently referred to as one “with jet black hair”, and that same character was the focal point of her book “Rockstar“. So naturally, put it all together, it spells Joan Jett ha ha! Also, right after a Joan mention, my birthday was mentioned and displayed on the screen! So, that connects us both. And sometime after that was a lesbian mention! Put it all together, that spells Joan and me lol!

As I am dictating this review by phone, I am thinking about what it could mean, these Joan connections in this particular documentary. And I think it probably means that Joan Jett is a similar kind of woman to Jackie Collins, and more specifically a similar kind of woman to some of the people Jackie wrote about, particularly in matters of amore! And I love that I just realized that connection!

OK, Now to get back to watching Dynasty, and also immersing myself into movie and TV adaptations of Jackie Collins’ work!

The whole time I watched this, I thought they were a married couple!

Somehow or another, it sort of takes away from their appeal to find out that they were just work colleagues who were friends, and who even eventually became somewhat estranged!! I feel jipped, betrayed, and lied to, finding this out!

It’s different when you’re watching a movie or TV couple who are known strictly for their characters, because most of the time, the viewer knows it’s just acting. But when a couple is famous for appearing together as themselves too, and the skits were the fruits of their t labor, then it comes across as too real to be a mere working relationship, thus fooling the viewer. They fooled me- and that’s not a good feeling.

All the best relationships should have the kind of camaraderie that these two had, to understand each other’s minds so well, which is what it takes to be able to do this kind of comedy.

Comedy is a mental exercise. So these two really had a meeting of the minds. In the meeting of the minds is a great basis for a romantic relationship. But alas!

They were good. I just wish they would have been a married couple, that’s all. I just somehow find that more appealing and genuine. Knowing that it’s not all an act does, in fact, make it better!

Oh, well! There’s always Burns and Allen or Lucy and Desi, thank God!

On another note, I couldn’t escape the feeling that Lily Tomlin definitely “borrowed” heavily from Elaine May for a couple of her characters, at least! Odd that she wasn’t in this documentary, providing commentary like Steve Martin, who freely itted he thought about stealing one of their sketches for his own routine, LOL!

This is definitely a movie that feels like the Dick Van Dyke version of the Mary Tyler Moore film “What’s so bad about feeling good?”

It’s a good movie. Weird, but good. I loved the Randy Newman, theme tune!

Watching this for Annette Bening, who is so lovely and sweet, and always reminds me of an adult Shirley Temple!

On the third episode so far, and all I can say is I want the husband’s life- married to Annette, who is also mother to all who need her. What a woman!! Crushing hard on her in this!

As for the kids, Logan is my favorite, and then the lesbian sister. The two oldest are rather harsh though and get on my nerves.

This is another to be added to my “eye candy” or beautiful homes list, because Logan lives on a houseboat and his parents live in the perfect house!

Gorgeous mini-series that keeps one engaged and curious as to how the mystery will be solved. Loving it so far!

I'm very picky about the documentaries I watch and usually they have to do with show business. But sometimes they don't. I like documentaries that make me feel good at the end, or that are so very interesting they make me think about lots of interesting, happy possibilities.

Some of these didn’t get the highest ratings from me, and some never were on my top 4, and some in my top 4 didn’t make this list. But that’s because with this list, I’m trying to cover the gamut of all the types of movies I love, the ones that really stayed with me, even if they aren’t my top rated, but they are attached to a certain feeling or memory or idea that means the world to me… Those that met that criteria are here. Plus, I am keeping this list down to 100 only, otherwise it could go on forever!

Suffice it to say, this list is an amalgamation of all the sorts of movies I love most, condensed down to the movies I think represent that love the best, as I’m truly obsessed with quite a few of these!

  I will never forget, I was in bed with a bit of a cold, when my mother rented this off of dish Network and let me watch it on TV as a new premiere while I was sitting there feeling horrible, and watching one of the most beautiful movies. It turned another was lackluster gay into something special. This movie is there for very special to me.

You know how they say scent is connected to memory and memory is connected to feeling? Well, certain movies are like that with me. I will watch them, and they will take me back to a time when the world felt cozy, artistic, exciting! Mainly, I always how I felt when I was a student in my Spanish teacher's class - distance learning. She came to me from TV basically, while I was sitting in a real classroom. It was so adventurous, her class even made a surprise trip over to our classroom without her knowing it. And thanks to her, I tasted Mexican candies that were amazing, received a surprise in the mail, and even did a little bit of traveling outside of town - felt like world travel to me! Everything felt so romantic and exciting and wholesome!

Romantic. Certain movies make me the times when I felt that way. But it's only a certain sort of movie. I've noticed the genre can be different, but the feeling it evokes in me is the same. So it's hard to describe but I want to find more of this...

This is my favorite kind of movie - high-minded, conversational, artsy- or loving of the arts, thought provoking, and relaxing. And usually the environment is beautiful and/or exotic or otherwise feeling like an adventure / vacation.

Even though growing up I said I didn't like new movies - only old Hollywood and stuff made from the '60s and before, thank goodness I have found the niche of film that I can appreciate from modern times. Because that means I've got more to look forward to! I hope that movies like the ones in this list continue to be made.

Often times, when talking about a genre that involves a certain element of violence or crime, movie fans tend to focus on the gory, grimy and gritty. And while those can certainly be elements of the genre, I require softness and/or sexy seduction in my suspense thrillers. I require them to be decidedly feminine and easy on the harsh stuff.

Lesbian romance is one of my absolute favorite sub-genres of film, so I had to make a list like this, to show my appreciation.

Some of these are not movies that most would put into such a list (like Notes on a Scandal), but that's why I decided to make my own list of Sapphic love movies- those that strike a chord with me personally as beautiful romantic love from women to women- whether the characters are in what would be deemed as an actual romantic relationship with each-other or not.

There are a lot of movies about soulmates, and every deep love is a soulmate, but not a soulmate is a twin flame. Twin flames are another variation of soulmate, just like platonic friends are another variation of soulmate.

This list is about the twin flame of soulmate, and the movies that I think exhibit twin flame, relationships. To know why, click on the Notes for each film, as I will be adding notes for why I think each film is a twin flame movie. Work in progress.

• Between the Temples

  Even the poster for this movie screams twin flame! Flames mirror each other, and that is exactly what they are doing in this poster.
  
  Twin flames also help each other evolve. They wake each other up. They give each other more sense of purpose. And that’s exactly what these two characters did in this film. Twin flame love is a pure love, not based on lust, based on something deeper and more profound. That’s why twin flame love is considered evolvement.
  
  These two characters didn’t jump into bed with each other, they jumped into each other’s hearts and minds first. They also took each other out of each other’s comfort zone and broaden each other world views. This is how twin flame love can feel so exciting, because it is someone that sees you for who you are, they understand your way of communication, they get you, mind, body, and soul.
  
  Twin flame is also about overcoming obstacles that typical soulmate love doesn’t have to deal with, such as differences in religion, culture clashes, age, gaps, and other differences that typically would be dealbreaker for most relationships, but for twin flames, it brought them together, it helped them to grow, and we see that in this movie.
  
  Twin flames are also people who tend to have a special mission with each other, they inspire each other, and their work tends to complement one another. We also see that in this movie, where the canter is able to help his former music teacher. She is into music and learning, and he is a teacher himself, teaching her what she needs to learn. She was his teacher, and then he became hers. This is very much a twin flame dynamic. 
  
  These two characters in this movie have one of the purest loves I have seen portrayed, one that isn’t about lust or sex, but is about a meeting of the minds and hearts above all. It’s definitely a great example of a twin flame movie!

• Wuthering Heights

One of my favorite types of fantasies, if not my very favorite, is that of getting sucked inside the TV show you're watching, or the movie you're watching. And on rare occasion, even getting sucked inside the world of a painting you're viewing, or even a comic strip. Sometimes, the reverse can be true, and the characters from those worlds get pulled into ours. Either way, it holds the fascination for me.

When movies and shows feature characters suddenly becoming part of a world they thought was completely fiction, it's incredible to me! It's so real to me, and so exciting! Here are just a few of the examples I can think of. Feel free to add more, once I figure out how to cut the comments on... 😊

While I do prefer talking movies, I must say that the glamor of silent era Hollywood and the silent movies in general is unrivaled by anything since. I think we should make more movies about the silent era, and I think that silent era type Stars need to make a comeback! There's definitely a lure to them! This is making me want to see that Hollywood Babylon movie haha.

On another note, why can't we start filming in black and white again, and why can't we go back to 1920s style for those films? After all, we are in the 20s again at the time of making this list, January 29th, 2024. We can have a second flapper era!

Starting with my favorite- based on a true story of someone named Alice (my name) who ends up having to cope with a disability. Since I'm disabled too (I have cerebral palsy), this is like another version of my life! Plus, she falls in-love with a man named Jack, which is a masculine form of the feminine name Joan- and I'm all about a Joan! So, the whole movie was a Godwink to me!

I hope Hallmark will start making more Giodwink movies- not just Christmas ones- and start giving them the "Hallmark Hall of Fame" treatment, making them feel more like a 1970s-1990s TV movie, when they were so sincere and riveled theatrical releases in quality on various levels.

As it stands now, these modern-day Hallmark channel movies don't feel as real as those from way back when, instead having a bit of a run-of-the-mill, artificial feel. I don't know if it's just a difference in acting between the past and now or what, but I miss the way TV movies used to be, and I hope we get back to that someday.

Having said all of the above, I still really like the Godwink movies that have been done so far and look forward to hopefully even more!

Don't get any ideas (naughty!) Haha 😊 I just mean these are the movies that somehow put me in a comforted enough state that I can feel better when they're on, especially when I'm having one of those days or nights when I'm sleepy, but not really asleep. Having these playing when I'm trying to sleep puts me in a state of peacefulness, for some reason, and I love them for it! 🩷🩷🩷 As a result, these are probably the movies I've watched the most times in my life🎞️📺📆🌝

These are little indie movies that it seems like hardly anyone knows, some of them with pretty big stars! It's shocking that the big stars play in such little movies, but they are like hidden treasures- some of them not so good, but some of them- beautiful diamonds!💍

What I especially love about these movies, even when I don't really like one, is that they are all ion projects. Nobody goes into these movies for the money, they do it for the activity and the art of it. And these films usually end up being real community projects, that bring people together and bring out the goodwill in friends all around.

Sometimes, the actors in these movies do the job for next to no money at all. Just to help out. It's a beautiful thing. And in some cases, the film itself is done for altruistic reasons, to raise money for the benefit of something else entirely, such as a community project, a charity, or even, in the case of Christmas at the Holly Hotel, renovating/restoring a real historic hotel!

So, even though I have seen people talk about how crappy low budget movies are, etc. They really are remarkable in so many other ways! And the fact that they bring out the best in people on several levels, is something to ire. That in itself makes these films worthy of spotlighting. And sometimes, these little indie films come out of the obscure shadows and become classics, such as the individual horror movie Carnival of Souls did.

So, I would recommend venturing out of the big budget studio film once in awhile, and watching a little unknown indie. Because these are really ion projects made with love, and if you'll let yourself, you'll feel the love come through in the viewing.

I don't like a whole heck of a lot of horror films, unless they are from the 1960s through early 1980s, or if they have an overall sweetness to them, despite the horror elements. The Conjuring cinematic universe has sweetness to it. In fact, the overall taste of the film is sweet, rather than horrific. And that is very rare for horror movies. So, I've watched nearly all of them, this is how I rank them.
