Smiling ear to ear throughout the whole runtime, one of the most fun and cool feeling action movies out there. This thing feels built like a machine; every shot, edit, music cue, and line of dialogue feels expertly crafted to fit alongside the others and contribute to a film that’s perfectly paced and feels constantly exciting. Every scene feels like the best one, with those car chases being the highlights although I also love the arena scene and the hotel…

Who would’ve thought that Zack Snyder’s directing and James Gunn’s writing would go so well together? The opening of this movie, everything leading up to the title drop and that credits sequence, is some of the best Snyder ever directed and maybe is the best part of the movie. The rest of it is super fun though, the man has always known how to direct an incredible action scene, and you can clearly tell that Gunn was still in his Troma splatter horror era when he wrote this, as it has that mean spirited b-movie feel.

It took me a bit to get into it and accept the new direction, but once I did I was hooked. This is the most unique and creative reboot ever. I don’t even think there’s a contest. I love all the new scenarios created by remixing and playing mix-and-match with this world. The ending brings it all together in a genuinely beautiful way.

One of the best premises in Hollywood history belongs to this film, that premise not being the actual plot about the prisoner plane, but the decision to turn this into an ensemble movie starring as many 90s character actors as they could find. Cage Vs Malkovich is a hero/villain pairing so brilliant I’m shocked it only happened once, John Cusack is always a joy to see and he’s perfect as the bookish agent that balances out the other macho personalities,…
